Austria: Practitioners Meet Chancellor during Election Campaign and Tell Him About Falun Gong

By a practitioner in Austria

In conjunction with the present election campaigns taking place all over Austria, the Honourable Dr. Wolfgang Schluessel, acting Chancellor, arrived in Salzburg to present a public address in a big hall and hold a question and answer session following his speech.

Another practitioner and I attended this event and managed to get seats in the front row. We put our hands up to speak and I managed to get the chance to explain the situation of the persecuted Falun Gong practitioners in China. I took this opportunity to seize the microphone and clarify the truth to this huge crowd of assembled people, pointing out the abominable behaviour of Jiang Zemin’s hooligans and adding that history would honour the free Western states that could officially speak for an end to this persecution.

The Chancellor responded briefly but positively to my plea and assured me that the Austrian government, for which he is in charge, would contact the Foreign Ministry to intervene on different levels. He also stated that he would like to receive further information from us. The latter comment was made as he glanced at a folder of prepared handouts the practitioner, standing next to me, was holding on to.

When the proceedings ended a great mass of people, including ourselves, walked toward the Chancellor to speak further with him. It was my goal to hand him the folder with information, but because people were gathered around him, I did not succeed but instead gave the folder to an assistant instead who promised to hand the folder to him.

Spontaneously, the Chancellor then walked toward the other practitioner, shook her hand and inquired about the information materials folder. His assistant informed him that he is already in possession of the folder. The Chancellor smiled and moved on.
