Colorado's University Students and the Public say "NO" to Human Rights Atrocities in China

On Monday, October 21, 2002, Friends of Falun Gong student organization, students, government leaders, and the public joined together at the University of Colorado at Denver to express their concern for the terrible human rights violations in China and to protest Chinese Communist leader Jiang Zemin's upcoming visit to the United States on October 22nd. Friends of Falun Gong at Colorado University at Denver coordinated the event.

This was the first semester that Friends of Falun Gong student organization was recognized at the university. Days prior to the rally, the members and Falun Gong practitioners distributed and posted over 1,200 flyers on campus. During the rally, people were approaching us inquiring what they could do to help stop the persecution of Falun Gong. Lots of postcards were distributed and signed.

At the rally Jiang's crimes were brought to light, including how the Chinese officials pressure the U.S. Officials and target U.S. citizens.

The President of FoFG at CU Denver closed the rally with "Together we can end the persecution "

Denver Councillor Dennis Gallagher and Colorado State Representative Frank Weddig wrote support letter especially for the rally.

Mr. Weddig said in his letter, "I would like to extend my heartfelt support for your efforts to bring world-wide attention to the excesses committed by China against those who practice Falun Gong. As beneficiaries of the religious and cultural tolerance that has become a hallmark of American life, we have a sacred responsibility to uphold those values in our relations with other nations."

Mr. Dennis Gallagher expressed his support of Falun Gong in protesting human rights violation by Chinese government.
