On Oct. 22, 2002, Radio France International reported in its Chinese broadcasting program, which was aired to Mainland China and Paris Metropolitan area, that according to a report from AFP [A French Press Agency], there were more than seven hundred Falun Gong practitioners holding a demonstration in front of the Chinese consulate in Chicago against the persecution of Faun Gong by [Jiang’s] government. The majority of the people who attended the demonstration were from Japan, Taiwan, New Zealand, Australia and North America.

Falun Gong practitioners also publicized a lawsuit (against Jiang Zemin, President of PRC, Zeng Qinghong, Minister of Organization Dept., and Luo Gan, Secretary of Central Politics Bureau) that was jointly filed by eight people from six different countries. They were indicted to take full responsibilities of initiating and propagating the persecution on the Falun Gong spiritual movement in China. According to the Falun Dafa Information Centre, the prosecutions documentation had been delivered to the Anti-Torture Committee and the Human Rights Committee of the United Nations, as well as the International Criminal Court on Oct. 17.

According to another report by Ming-Hui Net, an associate professor at Dalian University of Technology, Chu Hung, who is also a Falun Gong practitioner, has been imprisoned in “Yao’s Detention Centre” for three years since 1999. The report said Chu had been tortured and lost consciousness. So far, we are unable to confirm this news without additional information from other channels.

Ming-Hui Net also released a letter written by Mr. Billy Lauren, Technology Adviser to French President, Mr. Jacques Chirac. Dated Oct. 17, this letter was a reply to a letter from Chairman of Falun Gong Association in France about the situation of Falun Gong practitioners. Inside his letter, Mr. Lauren pointed out that France as well as other European countries has been watching over the Falun Gong situation, and has expressed their concerns about the alleged torture. It continued to say that France raises the issue of human rights in every one-on-one meeting with Chinese officials.
