Hong Kong Falun Gong practitioners report on October 1, 2002:
On October 1, 2002, outside the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, [site of the official Chinese National Day celebration] nearly 200 Hong Kong Falun Gong practitioners held a three and a half-hour peaceful appeal. The appeal was to protest the Jiang's regime's intimidating the Hong Kong administration to pass "anti-subversion" legislation, which would extend the Mainland's human rights violations, suppression of Falun Gong and other peaceful organisations to Hong Kong.

During the activity, it was cloudy and rainy. Practitioners' hair and clothes were soaked, but none of these hardships could prevent practitioners from peacefully appealing and clarifying the facts. The peaceful appeal started at 3 p.m. While practitioners practised the exercise and did Fa Zheng Nian [rough translation - sent forth righteous thoughts. This can be understood as a kind of meditation.] together, 2 practitioners read the opening statements in Chinese and English. The rain stopped before the activity concluded. Practitioners sang together the songs "Falun Dafa is Good" and "Coming for You," which practitioners composed.

Several reporters came to conduct interviews.
