Ding Xiangying, a 57-year-old female Dafa practitioner, was a diligent official at Jingwei Polymer Fabric Plant in Jiaozuo City, Henan Province. After July 20, 1999, she was illegally arrested for clarifying the truth. Because she refused to abandon Falun Gong, she was sent to the Shibalihe Forced Labour Camp in Zhengzhou City, the provincial capital. She suffered severe torture and other kinds of inhuman treatments at the forced labour camp. Despite the extremely brutal environment, she remains optimistic with a smiling face. She is able to look directly at her abusers and other evil forces with a righteous mind.

She was detained at Team 4, whose team leader and criminal inmates are especially vicious in torturing practitioners. Every morning, practitioners are forced to get up before sunrise to do boot camp training, including walking in teams and running. Any sign of disobedience will result in a brutal beating, whether the practitioner is old or young. Ding Xiangying refused to cooperate, and she began to practice Falun Gong exercises. Seeing her exercise, a group of policemen rushed in and pinned her down to the ground. They beat her hard with punches and kicks. Despite this tremendous torture and humiliation, she remains calm and positive. She never complains and holds no bitterness in her heart.

She asked the policemen with a calm voice, "I am a Dafa practitioner. Why can't I practice?" In the camp, her morning starts with Dafa exercises, which caused her constant beatings and even more brutal torture. Once, when a policeman saw her practicing, he pushed her so hard that she fell on a glass bottle. The smashed glass cut her body.

One day, the labour camp had a meeting to denounce Falun Gong. Ding Xiangying refused to attend. Several policemen carried her to the meeting room. In the meeting room, she started practicing the Falun Gong excises. As a result, she was severely beaten. Ding Xiangying is beaten almost every day, but she has no anger and always has a smile on her face. She seldom talks, but she is doing all she can in safeguarding Dafa. Although she has suffered great physical abuse and inhuman treatment in the camp, she still keeps the best interests of others in mind. She cares a great deal about other practitioners outside the labour camp and their cultivation situation. She wrote a letter to the other practitioners to offer encouragement. Unfortunately, her letter was intercepted by a collaborator and handed to police. As a result, policemen hung her up and beat her for a long time.

Almost three years have passed. No matter what kind of hardship she suffered, Ding Xiangying has remained firm in her belief in Dafa. She has no freedom. Money sent in by her family ends up in the police's pocket. Even her bathroom visits were watched by criminal inmates. She was not allowed to buy sanitary napkins. She once looked strong and vibrant, but now she is emaciated.

Like Ding Xiangying, other female practitioners such as Wang Junying, Yan Aiying and Wang Guihua have also remained firm in Dafa and refused to cooperate with the evil. They also suffer brutal treatment, but nothing has been able to break their spirit. Another female practitioner was severely beaten and paralyzed because she did the sitting meditation.

In the labour camp, upon hearing the names Ding Xiangying, Wang Junying, Yan Aiying, and Wang Guihua, even the police officers sometimes show a look of admiration for their courage. These female practitioners' righteous thoughts have made the evil tremble, and they are safeguarding Dafa everyday. Their heroic conduct has inspired other practitioners in their effort to rectify the situation.
