Jilin Police Harass Numerous Falun Gong Practitioners

On the night of May 29th, 2012, the Jilin Police Department had a joint action to harass and arrest numerous Falun Gong practitioners. According to the information provided by the insiders, the Jilin Provincial Committee and the Politics and Law Committee intended to persecute Falun Gong practitioners in the name of protecting the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) Eighteenth Conference.

Persecution loses the support of the population

On the night of May 29th, at about 6 p.m., policemen went in groups to practitioners' homes to harass them.

Falun Gong practitioners talked to the policemen face to face about Falun Gong again and told them not to help the CCP. In an elderly Jilin practitioner's home, two policemen asked him if he still practised Falun Gong. The practitioner said he would pass away if he did not keep practising Falun Gong; such a good practice teaches people to be good persons--why not practise? The police did not have any answer. The practitioner continued to advise the police not to persecute good people. He said that when the CCP collapses in the future, their accomplices will be subjected to justice. The police quietly listened to him and then left after saying thanks to the practitioner.

On the night of February 29th, the same scene was played in many Falun Gong practitioners' homes. After learaning the truth, many policemen told the practitioners that they were just following orders from the upper authorities in order to guarantee that “the 18th conference would proceed smoothly”.They said that day was the first day of the action; the action would last more than one month; that the upper authorities had issued orders to “arrest a group of people, to destroy a group of Falun Gong materials production sites and to find a group of people who work for the New Tang Dynasty TV Station”. They were going to arrest those practitioners who had become homeless if possible, check those whose whereabouts were not clear and check those who had sent messages through mobile phones. And they would also search the mobile phone shield network which is used to prevent tapping, etc.

Many Falun Gong practitioners were arrested on May 29th, 2012

Mr. Li Wenjun and his mother, Ms. Feng Fengyun from Gaoxin District, Jilin were taken away from their home by officers from the Gaoxin Police Station on the night of May 29th. The police broke into their home and took away a computer, all the Falun Gong books, over a thousand yuan1, a charger for an electric power cart, DVDs, etc. The police took away Mr. Li first. When his mother Ms. Feng Fengyun and his daughter arrived at home at 8:30 p.m, they saw the home was messed up. The police also arrested Ms. Feng afterwards.

Ms. Feng Fengyun was sent to the Xiaoguangcun Brainwashing Centre in Shahezi on May 30th, 2012. Ms. Yu Yuelan from Gaoxin District and another elderly practitioner whose name is unknown were also sent to the brainwashing centre at the same time. Mr. Li Wenjun is still being questioned in the Gaoxin Police Station.

In addition, Ms. Yu Yelan was also arrested. Mr. Yu Xuezhong was taken to the Gaoxin Police Station.

On the night of May 29th, at about 7 p.m., officers from the Hadawan Police Station arrested five Falun Gong practitioners. Three of them live in the family houses of Hadawan Cement Factory. Their family names are He, Guo and Zhang. The names of the other two practitioners are unknown. At 2 a.m. that night, Ms. He was released. The other four practitioners' whereabouts are unknown.

On the night of May 29th, at about 8 p.m., officers from the Huancheng Police Station and the Nancheng Police Station in Shulan, Jilin Province went to harass Falun Gong practitioners. Zhou Jianguo and five other policemen went to Ms. Li Xiuhua's home and took away Falun Gong pictures. Officers from the Nancheng Police Station went to the home of Mr. Tong Chentian's parents and took away Falun Gong books (Mr. Tong had been persecuted to death). The police went to Mr. Xu Shuye's home and harassed him in the name of checking his registration. Chief Sun and other officers from the Huancheng Police Station arrested Ms. Liu Chenjie and Ms. Guo Xiuqing and took away Falun Gong books and Falun Gong materials from their homes. Now Ms. Liu Chunjie and Ms. Guo Xiuqing are being detained in the Huancheng Police Station. Ms. Liu Chunjie's family are planning to get her released.

On May 29th, at 10 p.m., officers from the Erdao Township Police Station in Fengman District, Jilin City took away Mr. Dang Minling from his home at Suxiang Village, Erdao Township. At that time, Mr. Dang was asleep in bed. Four policemen climbed over the yard wall and broke into the house. The police took away Mr. Dang's son's desktop computer and printer, a satellite receiver, etc. Mr. Dang only wore a tank top and underwear. He was carried into a police vehicle with bare feet. His wife tried to stop the policemen. However, the police threatened her not to make a sound and to cooperate with them. Li Zhiping is the chief of Erdao Township Police Station. Liu Zhidong is one of the policemen.

On May 29th, at about 10 p.m., police officers from Yongji County, Jilin City went to harass and arrest Falun Gong practitioners in order to force them to sign the guarantee letters giving up practicing Falun Gong. Two practitioners from Yaquegou, Beidahu Town were arrested and their whereabouts are unknown.

On May 30th, two practitioners from Shuangji Area, Jilin City were arrested by police. One is Mr. Yan Guocheng in his 40s. The other is Ms. Wang Wensuo in her 60s. The police also took away about 9000 yuan from Ms. Wang.
