Mr. Deng Jiangang is a Falun Gong practitioner from Fengming Town, Pengshan County, Meishan in Sichuan Province. He was held in detention centres in 2001 and 2004, where he underwent brutal torture. He was sentenced in 2008 to five years in prison. His wife, Jiang Xiantao, was sentenced to three years in prison. Mr. Deng was held and tortured in the Wumaping Prison in Leshan. Recently, he was sent home, unconscious and in critical condition.

In March, Mr. Deng's family went to the prison to see him and determine his mental and physical status. In April, his family received a phone call from the prison, and were told that he'd been transferred to the Chengdu Prison Hospital. Soon after, his family received the first notice from the hospital that he was in critical condition. His family then went to the prison and asked for his release on bail for medical treatment. However, they didn't receive a reply until the hospital issued a second notice of his critical condition.

During his stay in the hospital, his family visited him several times. During the first visit, his family completed all the hospital procedures for visiting by about 8 a.m. However, they weren't allowed to see him until the afternoon. He couldn't get up and didn't recognize them at the time. Within one month, he fell into an unconscious state. His family questioned if he'd been injected with unknown drugs.

Through much family effort, Mr Deng was finally released and taken home on June 14th, 2012. He couldn't stand and didn't believe that he was at home when his family tried to explain. He barely recognized any member of the family. He was afraid to eat when given food. He kept saying “Please don't beat me”. He was passing cold water in his stool, which indicated how severely he was injured physically and emotionally.

On June 14th, Chengdu police officers at the General Hospital notified his family to take him home. They picked him up, and immediately recognized that he was dying. One inmate carried him to the car. His family called to him, but he didn't respond or move. The officer who escorted him said that he'd recovered, but didn't listen to the police nor obey any rules, and should therefore be disciplined at home. This officer's identification number was: 5118235.

Mr. Deng was taken home at 10:20 p.m., but he was unable to sleep for four nights. He couldn't close his eyes, and became anxious and panicked. He continuously scratched his neck and chest, saying that he felt uncomfortable; he kept groaning. A doctor came to check him and found his pupil's enlarged, representative of toxic symptoms. He couldn't eat and was in a trance-like state. He had no memory and couldn't even recognize his wife or daughter.

On June 14th, his urine tube was taken out, and dripped blood. He was not able to urinate after the tube was removed. Whenever his family tried to wipe sweat off him, as soon as they touched him, he'd scream in panic: “Don't beat me! Don't beat me!”

When Mr. Deng was returned home, a police car from the Police Officers Hospital followed him.
