A female practitioner in her 80s from Beijing was recently arrested and sent to a brainwashing centre for practising Falun Gong. Another 60-year-old practitioner was sent to a forced labour camp.

Ms. Li Tuomin, in her 80s, is a resident of Chaoyang District in Beijing. She was reported by someone hired by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and then arrested by officers from the Huajiadi Police Station while she and another Falun Gong practitioner were distributing materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong on the afternoon of April 25th, 2012. The officers body-searched them without permission, and also took away their mobile phones. They were taken to Huajiadi Police Station initially, then transferred to Jiuxianqiao Police Station, where they were detained until 9 p.m. They were then released. While the practitioners were detained, the officers from Jiuxianqiao Police Station and members of the local residential committee, including officer Li Yuhong and residential committee director Wang Lihua and several other people, ransacked the practitioners’ homes. They confiscated cash and Falun Gong materials. Since then, officers from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) have not only repeatedly called both practitioners, but have also frequently visited them in person to harass them. On May 11th, Ms. Li was arrested again at home by the officers from the 610 Office and sent to a brainwashing centre.

Ms. Wang Xiaoli, a 60-year-old resident of Chaoyang District in Beijing, was arrested at home on January 13th, 2012 and sentenced to two years and seven months of forced labour in March. The verdict was made following no legal procedures. The residential committee member posted notification of the verdict in front of Ms. Wang's home instead of directly notifying her family. The notice mentioned that she was detained in the Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp, but when her family went there to visit her, they were not allowed to see her. Ms. Wang’s husband could not accept this sad news. He became angry, had a heart attack and died.

People involved in the arrest:

Li Yuhong, officer from Jiuxianxiao Police Station. He was on the list of evildoers on the Minghui website in the past due to his involvement in the persecution of Falun Gong since July 20, 1999. He continues to do bad things.
Wang Lihua, director of the residential committee. She is the main person in charge of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners in this area. She has also been on the list of evildoers compiled on Minghui before.
