Japan: Falun Gong Practitioners Submit Petition to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Calling for Help to Rescue Ms. Zhu Chunjun

On August 16th, 2011, Ms. Zhu Chunjun, from Tianmenxiang Village, Fangzheng County, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested by the local police for practising Falun Gong. She was sentenced to 6 years in prison on November 3rd, 2011. When her family was informed, it was already past the deadline for filing an appeal.

A local newspaper in Gifuken County covered the story of the rescue effort

Ms. Zhu Chunjun's daughter, who lives in Japan, calls upon Japanese society for help. On May 17th, 2012, Ms. Zhu's daughter submitted a petition to the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on which Japanese citizens and 60 county council members in Gifuken County signed their names. The council members expressed support for the peaceful resistance of Falun Gong, and urged the Japanese government to take action to rescue Ms. Zhu.
