She had been held at the Shan County Detention Centre for nearly three months, and sent to the Sanmenxia City Hospital when she was on the verge of death. She died on May 17th at the age of 48.
Ms. Li was born in 1963. She was a lathe worker at the Installation Branch of Sanmenxia City Water Conservancy No. 11 Engineering Bureau. She worked hard and undertook her tasks without complaining. She developed a lumbar sprain due to her long-term work. She was thin and unhealthy looking, was weak with little strength, and her health condition was very poor. She started practising Falun Gong in 1998. Her health significantly improved, and she benefitted both physically and mentally.
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began its suppression of Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999. Ms. Li was steadfast in her faith and kept telling people the truth about Falun Gong. She had been arrested five times. The first time, she was arrested at home by officers from the local Domestic Security Division, and later held at a brainwashing centre for 40 days. The second time, she was reported for speaking with people about Falun Gong. The third time, she was arrested by the local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and her workplace with the excuse of finding her a job. The fourth time, her workplace deceived her husband that they needed a copy of her identification card, and she was arrested and held at the Zhengzhou City Brainwashing Centre for over 20 days.
On February 18th, 2012, Ms. Li was arrested for the fifth time in front of her father's home by officers from the Sanmenxia City Domestic Security Division. She was later taken to the Shan County Detention Centre. She became very weak and needed support while walking. The police attempted to prosecute her and issue her a sentence, to escalate her persecution.
Ms. Li passed away on May 17th, 2012.
