Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Lin Wenhui was subjected to long term incarceration by the authorities. Before the 2008 Beijing Olympics, he was taken to a forced labour camp in Inner Mongolia and detained for two years. Shortly after his release, he was arrested again and taken to another forced labour camp. He was diagnosed with liver ascites. The camp authorities didn't want to be held responsible for his condition and released him on medical parole. Mr. Lin died on March 10th, 2012.

When the communist regime started suppressing Falun Gong in 1999, Mr. Lin was listed internally as one of the six key persons in Fujian Province. He had been incarcerated since the beginning of the persecution of Falun Gong. For a long period of time, he was detained in a facility inside a mountain and isolated from the outside world. He was monitored and not allowed to contact anyone on the outside. He regained his freedom in 2008.

After Mr. Lin's release, he went to Beijing on business. However, when the 2008 Beijing Olympics neared, Fujian Province police went to Beijing to take him back to Fujian, in order to “safeguard” the Olympics. Mr. Lin didn't want to go back but was taken to the Fengtai Detention Centre in Beijing. He was later sentenced to two years of forced labour and transferred to Tumuji Forced Labour Camp in Jalaid Banner, Hinggan League, Inner Mongolia.

On February 27th, 2009, in Tumuji Forced Labour Camp, another practitioner, Mr. Song Zhiyu, was beaten by guards. Guard Chen Qiang handcuffed his arms behind his back and locked him to a heating pipe in the fourth floor hallway. Mr. Song wasn't allowed to go downstairs to have lunch at noon.

In the afternoon, nine practitioners, including Mr. Lin Wenhui, Mr. Wang Zhanqing, Mr. Li Jianqing, and Mr. Wu Nanjie, learned what had happened to Mr. Song and asked to see him. The guards didn't give them an answer and the practitioners refused to go to work. The guards beat them with electric batons and rubber sticks.

After the beatings, the guards locked Mr. Lin Wenhui, Mr. Wang Zhanqing, Mr. Li Jianqing, Mr. Wu Nanjie, Mr. Ma You, and Mr. Zheng Jun into small cells on the first floor. Two practitioners shared a cell together and were connected with a handcuff. Guard Chen Qiang made the practitioners take off their clothes, leaving them in only their underwear. That was in February in Tumuji, when there was ice and snow on the ground. Later on, geothermal heating was turned on, but it alternated between hot and cold. There were no bedding or blankets in the cells. In the following days, guard Chen Qiang and chief Yang suspended Mr. Wang Zhanqing, Mr. Li Jianqing, and Mr. Wu Nanjie from a metal bar over the door. Many inmates witnessed this, and some were even moved to tears. The other practitioners that were locked in their cells were not allowed to lie down. When the chief went to work, he had the practitioners stand facing the wall. If any did not obey, they were shocked with electric batons.

After two years of abuse in the forced labor camp in Inner Mongolia, Mr. Lin returned to his hometown in Fujian Province. A month later, when Mr. uLin was riding a train, a security guard on the train discovered his Falun Gong books and arrested him.

Mr. Lin was again sent to a forced labour camp. While he was incarcerated this time, he was diagnosed with liver ascites. The camp authorities didn't want to be held responsible for his condition and released him on medical parole. Mr. Lin went to the hospital and was diagnosed with advanced liver cancer. Three months after his release, Mr. Lin died, on March 10th, 2012
