Elderly Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Chen Yaxia and Ms. Wang Shufen from Jinzhou were reported to the police for explaining the facts about Falun Gong to people in Bajiazi Village on December 25th, 2011. Three policemen from the Xijiao Police Station in Taihe District arrested the two practitioners and took them to the police station.

Jin Hui and another policeman brutally beat the two practitioners. Jin Hui hit Ms. Chen's face and chest and then hit Ms. Wang's back and shoulder.

In order to protest the arrest, the practitioners would not reveal their names or addresses. Jin Hui then hit Ms. Chen's chest and slapped her in the face again. As he was beating Ms. Chen, Jin Hui shouted: “I will beat you to death if you do not answer my questions today!” Ms. Chen's lower jaw is still very sore from the beating.

Jin Hui also handcuffed Ms. Wang and hung her up by the handcuffs at the police station. He twisted her arms behind her back and punched her hard between the shoulders, which caused extreme, long-lasting pain in Ms. Wang's arms.

Jin Hui searched the two practitioners three times and confiscated 20 amulets1 and seven calendars with information about Falun Gong.

At about 7 p.m. that night, the two practitioners were sent to the Jinzhou Detention Centre. When Ms. Chen's family went to visit her there a few days later, chief Ma would not allow the family to see her, saying that since Ms. Chen was a Falun Gong practitioner, she had no rights. Ma then extorted 400 yuan2 from Ms. Wang's family before allowing them to visit her. Officials subsequently extorted 7,000 yuan from Ms. Chen's family.

The two practitioners were detained for 15 days. The Xijiao Police Station released them after extorting money from their families.

Note

1. Amulets – In China, practitioners sometimes "clarify the truth" by giving people something small to wear or cherish, bearing a few words reminding them of the goodness of Falun Gong.

2. "Yuan" is the Chinese currency; 500 yuan is equal to the average monthly income of an urban worker in China.
