Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Jialin participated in broadcasting the truth about Falun Gong in a 2002 live broadcast to the Chinese public. As a result, he was sentenced by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to 12 years in prison. While in prison he was injected with psychotropic drugs. After being released, life was very difficult for him.

Mr. Zhang and his wife began practising Falun Gong in 1996. After the persecution began in July 1999 the CCP issued a warrant for their arrest, because they were telling people the facts about Falun Gong. They became homeless for a period of time to avoid further persecution.

On the evening of May 31st, 2002 Zhang and seven other practitioners successfully inserted a video explaining the facts about Falun Gong into the cable television network in Tongjiangxin Village, Hefei City. A Tobacco Institute and residents in 3900 residential homes were able to watch this video for more than 30 minutes. It was a great effort to expose the evilness of the CCP to about ten thousand people.

Mr. Zhang was arrested by the CCP in 2002 and sentenced to twelve years in prison. He was subjected to various types of torture and injected with psychotropic drugs against his will. He now looks dull and slow in his reactions, but still knows that Falun Gong is good.

After Mr. Zhang was sentenced to a 12-year term, his wife was frequently harassed by local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) agents. She was sent to forced labour camps twice for three and a half years. The family had two children at home still attending school. Their monthly rent was 600 yuan1 and his mother-in-law was the only one taking care of their family. She was over seventy years old and had retired from work drawing a pension of 1100 yuan. Life was difficult for everyone involved.

After Mr. Zhang returned home, he no longer had his former job. He found it difficult to get another due to the persecution that he and his entire family still endure.
