Meng Xiuhua and He Shuqin from Yanqing County, Beijing Sentenced, Zhao Caixia Arrested and Detained

Ms. He Shuqin, in her 60s, and Ms. Meng Xiuhua, in her 50s, from Yanqing County, Beijing, were held for six months before they were each sentenced to three and a half years in prison. They were sent to Beijing Women's Prison on February 13th, 2012.

Ms. He is from Xiguan Village, Chengguan Town, and Ms. Meng is from Zhangshanying Town. They were arrested because they distributed flyers about Falun Gong in Yanqing County. They were first held in the Yanqing Detention Centre, transferred to the Xicheng District Detention Centre in Beijing on October 14th, 2011, and later taken to the Changping District Detention Centre in Beijing.

Yanqing Court officials tried the two practitioners on December 21st, without informing their families. Both were given three-and-a-half-year prison sentences. Their families were not informed until they were sent to the Beijing Women's Prison in the Daxing District, Beijing.

In addition, Ms. Zhao Caixia, 50, from Yanqing County was arrested on December 15th, 2011 at her workplace. Yanqing County Department Store. When her family looked for her, the police officers tried to evade their questions. The police finally told the family that Ms. Zhao had been sent to the Xicheng District Police Department Detention Centre.
