About an hour after China's future Chinese Communist Party (CCP) chief Xi Jinping arrived for a state visit in the US on February 14th, 2012, the Falun Dafa Association of Washington DC convened a press conference at the National Press Club. They called upon Xi Jinping to:

  • Investigate the CCP officials responsible for the nearly 13 years of brutal persecution of Falun Gong,
  • Stop the persecution of Falun Gong, and
  • Bring to justice the main culprits in the persecution of Falun Gong, including Jiang Zemin.

Hundreds gather outside the White House to peacefully protest the persecution of Falun Gong in China as future CCP chief Xi Jinping arrives in the US for a state visit

“A more ruthless persecution than the Cultural Revolution spreads across China”

Dr. Huang Zuwei, a spokesperson for the Falun Dafa Association of Washington DC, said that former CCP leader Jiang Zemin launched a campaign to persecute Falun Gong in 1999, and since then, the CCP has carried out a systematic persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Jiang ordered a crackdown to “thoroughly eradicate Falun Gong,” and decreed genocidal policies such as “ruin their reputation, bankrupt them financially and destroy them physically,” and “beating to death is counted as suicide.” He explained that a tragic and ruthless persecution, worse even than the Cultural Revolution, has extended across China, and that many horrendous crimes against humanity have taken place nonstop in an environment of state-controlled media lies and the indifference of Chinese people who have been deceived by the incessant lies and propaganda vilifying Falun Gong.

Ms. Ma Chumei Recounts Her Personal Experiences of Persecution

Ms. Ma Chumei came to the US two years ago from China. At the press conference, she recounted her personal experience of persecution in China. For remaining steadfast in her belief in Falun Gong's principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, she was arrested four times and subjected to forced labor twice. For more than four years, she was subjected to severe physical abuse and torture. She was injected with dangerous drugs and tortured on a death bed for three days – a horrific and agonising experience. The guards forced her and her husband to divorce and a happy family was thus torn apart by persecution. Recalling her painful experiences, Ms. Ma broke down in tears.

Ms. Ma called upon U.S. President Obama, Vice President Biden, members of Congress and others meeting with Xi Jinping to urge him to stop the persecution of Falun Gong. She hopes that the crimes and tragedies of the persecution will not be allowed to continue any longer.

Stop the Persecution and Bring Those Responsible to Justice

Xi’s visit to the US began with a meeting with President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. At the same time, hundreds of Falun Gong practitioners gathered outside the White House to peacefully protest and silently meditate. They urged Xi to investigate the CCP officials for their roles in the nearly 13 years of brutal persecution of Falun Gong, to completely end the persecution and to bring the chief culprits, including Jiang Zemin, to justice.

Practitioners held banners reading “Thoroughly investigate the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China’s forced labour camps and prisons,” “Stop the persecution of Falun Gong,” “Bring Jiang Zemin, Luo Gan, Liu Jing, Zhou Yongkang and Bo Xilai to justice,” and more.

Practitioner Frank Lee from New Jersey is a computer engineer. He took a day off from work and made a special trip to the White House to participate in the peaceful protest. He said, “Falun Gong practitioners outside of China are very concerned about the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners inside China. I want to remind Xi Jinping to thoroughly investigate the CCP officials for their crimes committed in persecuting Falun Gong. These people are above the law in carrying out the persecution, and criminals such as Jiang Zemin, Luo Gan and Zhou Yongkang should be tried and punished immediately.”

Bring the Main Culprits of the Persecution to Justice

One week ahead of Xi Jinping’s visit to the US, former Chongqing Police Department head Wang Lijun sought protection in the US Consulate in Chengdu, leading to reports of internal strife and political scandal deep within the CCP. In response to the event, the Washington DC Falun Dafa Association voiced two requests:

  • Asking the U.S. government to release details of conversations between Wang Lijun and U.S. consular officials pertaining to the persecution of Falun Gong, and,
  • Urging Xi Jinping to investigate the CCP officials responsible for the 13 years of brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, to stop the persecution, and to bring the chief culprits, including Jiang Zemin, to justice.

During Wang Lijun’s tenure as Jinzhou City Police Department head in Liaoning Province, Falun Gong practitioners in the area endured severe persecution. At least 500 practitioners were illegally arrested and detained, among whom at least 71 died as a result of the persecution. Furthermore, more than 30 practitioners were tortured to the point of disability. When Wang Lijun was later transferred to Chongqing, he employed similar methods to brutally persecute Falun Gong there.

The Washington DC Falun Dafa Association stated its belief that the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong has led China's legal system to a comprehensive retreat and the verge of collapse. The CCP's brutal rule is itself teetering on the brink. The association called upon Chinese people inside the CCP who still have conscience to come forward at this critical juncture in history and expose the misdeeds of the evildoers in their midst.
