Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Tian Lisha from Wendeng City, Shandong Province, was arrested by officers from the Domestic Security Division and Political and Judiciary Committee on June 14th, 2011. She was later sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour by the Wendeng Domestic Security Division. Domestic Security Division officers Xiang Hongping and Ding Mingjie and three other officers sent her to the Wangcun Forced Labour Camp in Zibo City.

Ms. Tian went to her job at the Taiwei Electric Device company as usual on June 14th. Security person Xing Xuekuan noticed that some of the employees were wearing Falun Gong amulets(1), so he reported Ms. Tian to the Comprehensive Management Office in the business development district. Wang Shiping and 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) agents Cong Riguang and Ma Keming arrested Ms. Tian.

Because Ms. Tian refused to cooperate with them and she called out “Falun Gong is good!” in the detention centre, the police chief got very angry and threatened that he would increase the level of persecution against her. He also threatened to extort money from her family.

Not long afterward, Ms. Tian was sentenced to one year and a half years of forced labour. Weihai Legal Affairs Office refused to let Ms. Tian's family member and her attorney appeal for her.

Accompanied by his family and attorney, Ms. Tian's elderly father went to Wangcun Women's Forced Labour Camp on August 8th, to visit his daughter. Police officer Zhao Yan, who received them, refused to let them see her. After the attorney reasoned with the camp officials, they finally agreed to let the attorney talk to Ms. Tian on the phone, but they ordered her family members to wait outside the camp.

After talking with Ms. Tian over the phone, her attorney learned that she was being monitored and guarded by two inmates. They forced her to get up at 5 a.m. and she couldn't go to bed before 10 p.m. She was held in a dark, solitary cell and forced to sit on a small stool for long periods of time everyday.

Wangcun Women's Forced Labour Camp is infamous for its cruel and inhumane treatment of practitioners. Many practitioners who were detained here suffered tortures such as “stewing the eagle,” brainwashing, etc. Some of them were beaten and forced to stand for a long time, put in solitary, or forced to do slave labour.

Amulets – In China, practitioners sometimes "clarify the truth" by giving people something small to wear or cherish, bearing a few words reminding them of the goodness of Falun Gong.
