The rally started at 3 pm Many local VIPs, including the vice mayor, Li Yongde, and several members of the city council, came to express their support.

From 4 pm To 7 pm, two thousand attendees held a grand parade. They formed several teams with different themes, exposing the brutal persecution of Falun Gong in China, and telling the public about the trend of quitting the party.

The vice mayor of Kaohsiung, Li Yongde, stated that the trend of quitting the party shows that many Chinese people are longing for freedom. He said: “People have freedom and human rights in Kaohsiung. We respect all kinds of beliefs and different opinions.”

Prof. Chang Tsinghsi, trustee of the Falun Dafa Association of Taiwan, gave a speech in which he briefly reviewed the facts of the persecution. He commented that the only way to stop the persecution of Falun Gong in China is to disintegrate the CCP.

Mr. Yang Shuoying, representative of the Global Service Center for Quitting the Party, talked about the evil history of the CCP in his speech. He said: “Since Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party was published, millions of Chinese people have quit the party. The trends shows that the CCP will inevitably crash. Nothing can save it.”

Mr. Cai Lujun, representative of the China Democracy Party, Taiwan Chamber, said: “Falun Gong practitioners have made the CCP shake. Falun Gong is the group that I admire and support the most, because it has contributed to human rights in China the most.” Mr. Cai said that the CCP is trying to control Hong Kong and Macau, and also trying to infiltrate into Taiwan. He called upon the Taiwanese people to see that no matter how big the CCP's smile is, there is a knife behind its back.

Several city council members sent their greetings and recordings of their speeches to the rally.

Many local citizens watched the rally. Mr. Chang, who had a failed investment in China, said: “I was badly deceived by the CCP and lost a big chunk of money. The CCP is very corrupt.”

Mr. Lai, a local citizen, commented: “The persecution of Falun Gong promotes it. More people learn about Falun Gong because of it. I've seen Falun Gong in other countries. It is a great group. I hope more people can join the peaceful resistance against the persecution.”

Mr. Huang, a local citizen, said: “This parade will help more Taiwanese learn the truth about the CCP. The Taiwanese people need to be aware of the CCP's evil nature.”

Mr. Luo visited his relatives in China four years ago. He said: “Many Chinese people are not happy with the CCP, but they don't dare to say anything. The communist party will crash down world-wide. I hope my relatives in China will enjoy freedom some day as we do in Taiwan.”
