Twenty-Eight Practitioners Incarcerated in the Nan'an District Brainwashing Centre in Chongqing

Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents in Chongqing organized and instructed government agencies in districts and counties under its jurisdiction to hold brainwashing sessions, in an attempt to force Falun Gong practitioners to renounce their belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. From June 2011 to August 5th, the Nan'an District CCP agents held a brainwashing session at the Nandi Resort. They arrested 28 practitioners and forced them to participate in it.

Nan'an District Political and Judiciary Committee head and deputy head were in charge of this brainwashing session. Participating staff members were personnel selected from the public security, Procuratorate and court system, the judicial system, religious fields and science and technology commissions. These CCP agents forced the practitioners to watch brainwashing videos daily, and had “heart to heart talks” with them, trying to force them to “reform” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong].

“Helpers” who participated in brainwashing the practitioners were rewarded with huge sums of money each day. It is said that Chongqing government allotted each district and county special funds to hold brainwashing sessions, with each session being given one million yuan¹.

Guangyuang Town 610 Office agent Zhou Xilan in the Nan'an District has dispatched agents to interfere with, monitor, report and follow practitioners for a long time. They have also made phone calls to practitioners, their children and relatives to harass them. If the practitioners refused to comply with them, they threaten their children and relatives with being fired from their jobs, having their salaries and pensions suspended and that even nine generations of their families would be implicated. Zhou Xilan arrested local practitioners Hong Dapeng, Deng Jiquan and Duan Fanghe on June 7th, 2011, and took them to attend the brainwashing session.
