The Local Authorities in Junshan District, Yuyang City, Hunan Province Continue to Arrest Practitioners

Officials from the Junshan District 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Yueyang City, the Domestic Security Division, police stations, the judicial administration offices and the Community Office have been working together to arrest and persecute Falun Gong practitioners.

The director of the Caisanghu Town Police Station, Shen Cheng, led other officers to arrest Ms. Zhu Chunxiu, 62, while she was at a party in Yinbei Village, Caisanghu on August 7th. She was taken to Junshan Detention Centre, where she was held for five days. Her family members did not know what had happened to her, and only found out about her whereabouts after making numerous inquiries to the local authorities.

At around 10 a.m. on August 12th, Mr. Wang Hongbo, in his 70s, went to a farmer's market. The director of the Judicial Administrative office in Cengshan Town, Junshan District, Yuan Chunhua, an instructor at the Cengshan Police Station, Wang Dalin; and two other police officers followed him home. They took his house key and burst into his home. They confiscated many of his personal belongings, including a DVD player, mobile phone, and 9,000 yuan¹ in cash. Mr. Wang and his son-in-law, Mr. Cai Junming, were arrested and taken to the Cengshan Police Station.

Wang Dalin and the superintendent of the Cengshan Police Station, Duan Deliang, threatened Mr. Wang and tried to force him to renounce Falun Gong. However, Mr. Wang continued to tell them the facts about Falun Gong and hoped that they would stop persecuting practitioners. They didn't listen, and forced him to stand for long periods of time. When they tried to get him to sign the interrogation form, he started to write 'Falun Gong is good!' But before he could finish writing Wang Dalin slapped him in the face and kicked him his with heavy leather shoes. They said bad words about him and Falun Gong. They continued to torture him until 5 p.m., before notifying his son to come and collect him.

Mr. Cai Junming does not practise Falun Gong, but was still interrogated by Wang Guobing and was told to say bad words about Master Li. When he refused, they beat him and took more than 300 yuan from his wallet. Mr. Cai later asked for the money back many times, but it was never returned to him.

Many police officers went to Ms. Dai Zuolan's home in Fengshou Village in Cengshan on August 19th and arrested her. She was then taken to the No. 1 Detention Centre in Yueyang.

At around 10 a.m. on August 26th, 30 people from various levels of the Junshan District 610 Office, Domestic Security Division, police stations, judicial administrative offices and the community office went to arrest Ms. Li Nianchun, over 70 years old, who was renting an apartment at a fertilizer plant. They confiscated her personal belongings, including a computer, DVD player, Falun Gong books and 4,000 yuan in cash. When Ms. Li told them to stop persecuting practitioners, Yuan Chunhua and a young man slapped her in the face and punched her. Ms. Li was then taken to Laogan Hotel in Yueyang for further persecution. She continued to tell them the facts about Falun Gong and went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. The following day, she was sent to Guangji Hospital, and was diagnosed with high blood pressure and heart disease. All those who participated in persecuting Ms. Li then distanced themselves from her, and sent her to the head of security in Chaoyang Community Committee in Cengshan, Yan Dingji, who then notified her husband to come and take her home.

Several police officers went to the home of Li Meiying and Luo Jichuan on the morning of September 8th. Their eighty-year-old mother was at home at the time and was very frightened. The practitioners were arrested and their home was ransacked. Under immense pressure from the police, they reluctantly put their fingerprints on documents stating that they would renounce their belief, before being released.

Officials from the Junshan 610 Office led officers from the Cengshan Domestic Security Division and the local police station and broke into the home of Ms. Ren Xiyun at around 9 p.m. on September 9th. They arrested her and confiscated her laptop, printer, Falun Gong books and other personal belongings. Her whereabouts is currently unknown.

Liu Guolan and Liu Guojing were arrested and had their DVD players confiscated. They were held in Junshan Detention Centre for ten days.

Zuan Jinlian, Li Meiying, Cao Meilan, Ren Xiyun, Dai Chunmei, Duan Chuangui, Wang Zhenyuan and many other Falun Gong practitioners have been forcibly taken to brainwashing centres.
