He was arrested for talking to people about the truth behind the persecution of Falun Gong at a market on July 19th, 2011. He is now in Duoying Detention Centre in YaAn City.

Mr. Chen began his practice of Falun Gong in 2002. He decided to practise after witnessing the incredible changes in his friend. This friend lived in Guangzhou City in Guangdong Province and he had been paralyzed and bedridden for more than three years. Mr. Chen visited this man only about once a year and so had not seen him in quite some time. When he called him to arrange a visit, his friend invited him out to eat. Mr. Chen said, “How can we go out to eat? I would have to carry you on my back to go downstairs.” To his surprise, his friend said, “No, I can walk by myself.” It turned out that he was no longer paralyzed.

In the past, Chen Diwen’s friend had worked as a consultant for the local legal system. A friend gave him a book called Zhuan Falun. After reading the book for a while, the paralyzed man he felt pain in his joints. He knew that, since he was paralyzed, he was not supposed to have any pain sensations such as this.

The man then asked his caregiver to help him get out of bed, and he walked down the hall. He insisted on reading the book more and found that he continued to improve day after day.

Chen Diwen started to read the book out of curiosity and soon realized it could benefit a person both physically and mentally. He then started to practise Falun Gong and behaved according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

Mr. Chen was sent to the forced labour camp for one year because he would not give up Falun Gong. He is still being detained in the Duoying Detention Centre of YaAn City.
