Mr. Ou Jiafa, in his 60s, died in May 2011. In 2002, he was sentenced to three years in prison for practicing Falun Gong. He was held in the Huaihua City Brainwashing Centre in September 2007. Those in charge forced Mr. Ou to take drugs that destroyed his central nervous system. As a result he walked slowly, drooled, and spoke unintelligibly. He never recovered. Chenyang Town 610 Office personnel (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) went to Mr. Ou's home frequently in March 2010 to harass him, sometimes as often as twice a week. They confiscated his personal belongings. When he accused the agents of taking things, they said, “The government allows us to steal.” He was even harassed before his death.

Prior to practising Falun Gong, Mr. Ou was an alcoholic and his health was poor. After he started practising Falun Gong in 1996, he gave up the drinking and held himself to the standard of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. He became healthy, treated others with kindness, and helped those in need.

After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Gong in 1999, Mr. Ou was repeatedly arrested, detained and beaten, and his home ransacked. Several times the police broke into his home and arrested him in the night.

In 2002, Chenxi police officers Xie Kaiji, Liu Yong (now the deputy chief), Liu Shuqin, Xiao Minfu, and others, arrested Mr. Ou and robbed his family of their valuables. The shock of the raid led to the death of Mr. Ou's wife, who was already seriously ill. Mr. Ou was tortured in the police station by Xie Kaiji and others.

In July 2002, when Mr. Ou and more than ten other Falun Gong practitioners took part in group Falun Gong study, they were reported and arrested by Xie Kaiji and others. Mr. Ou was sentenced to three years in prison and taken to the Jin City Prison. He was forced to do hard labour for more than ten hours every day and was subjected to violent brainwashing tactics. He was released in 2005 after he finished his three-year term.

Mr. Ou was threatened and harassed many times in 2006. Officers from the Chenyang Town Police Station broke into his home one day by kicking in his door. The police ransacked his home and found several Falun Gong books and pamphlets, and he was consequently arrested and detained.

In September 2007, officers from the Chenxi County Political and Judiciary Committee, 610 Office, Domestic Security Team, and Chenyang Town 610 Office arrested Mr. Ou and took him to an apartment building at the Yingkou Town Printing Company in Huaihua City, which is the location of the Huaihua Brainwashing Centre. Later on, a doctor examined Mr. Ou and declared that he was ill. Those in charge forced Mr. Ou to take drugs that destroyed his central nervous system, which caused him to drool, walk slowly, and speak unintelligibly.

After Mr. Ou returned home, the police often harassed him. They confiscated his Falun Gong books many times. They also took away his MP3 and MP4 players.

The police arrested Mr. Ou on September 18th, 2008, and held him in a detention centre. He was arrested and his home again ransacked on April 12th, 2009.

Mr. Ou moved slower day by day. His hearing decreased to the point that he couldn't hear clearly. He had difficulty doing the Falun Gong exercises. After three years of suffering, Mr. Ou passed away in May 2011.
