Mr. Wen Zhiming is a Falun Gong practitioner from Suizhong County, Liaoning Province. He was secretly sentenced to seven years in prison by a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) court on July 12th.

On April 26th, 2011, officers from the Suizhong County Police Department arrested Mr. Wen from his home and sent him to the Suizhong County Detention Centre. Mr. Wen's home was ransacked and his computer, printer, Falun Gong books and some personal belongings were confiscated. His arrest was changed to a criminal arrest on May 4th, and a warrant was issued on May 10th.

Mr. Wen was sent to the Suizhong County Jail. Prior to May 11th, the Suizhong County Police Department did not release any information regarding Mr. Wen to his family. After extensive inquiries, Mr. Wen's family eventually learned that he was at the Suizhong County Jail, but their request for a visit was not granted for almost a month. On May 30th, the Suizhong Prosecutor's office submitted a public charge against Mr. Wen to the court, with investigators Liu Sixin and Ma Shaozhong participating in the charge.

On July 12th, the Suizhong Court began a trial against Mr. Wen without notifying his family. Mr. Wen was sentenced to seven years in prison.

During the time that Mr. Wen was detained, his elderly parents went to the police department, courthouse and the detention centre many times to ask to see their son; none of their attempts were successful. Mr. Wen's parents went to the courthouse again on July 18th. Presiding Judge Guan Shusen told them that their son was sentenced to seven years in prison. However, he did not give them the sentencing documentation. On July 25th, the day before Mr. Wen was transferred to prison, his parents were given the sentencing documentation and were allowed to see their son.

Mr. Wen's wife had a stroke in January this year, and she cannot take care of herself. Her medical bills are high and the family is experiencing financial difficulty.
