On June 20th Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Lv Renjuan was arrested by Xiadingjia Town Police Station in Longkou City, Shandong Province. On July 5th, she was sentenced to one year of forced labour, and was sent to Wangcun Forced Labour Camp in Zibo City. Her relatives went to the forced labour camp to ask them to release Ms. Lv, but they were unreasonably beaten and detained. They were subsequently released.
Request for Ms Lv's Release Denied
Ms. Lv's relatives went to the Wangcun Forced Labour Camp at around 10:00 a.m., and gave the guard the petition letter requesting that they release Ms. Lv Renjuan. The guard read the letter then closed the door and threatened them. After Ms. Lv's relatives continued asking for her release, the guard called chief Li of the disciplinary section. Lv's relative said that it was illegal for the Longkou City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and Domestic Security Division to send Ms. Lv to a forced labour camp. Li said that they would accept anyone with a forced labour statement. Lv's relative asked which law Ms. Lv broke. Was it a crime that she told her neighbours “Falun Gong is good” and “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good”? How did her behaviour disturb the social order? Li couldn't answer the questions, and he repeated that he would accept anyone as long as he received a forced labour statement.
Lv's relatives were not satisfied with the answer and asked to meet with the head of the camp, and they also asked to see Lv. But Li refused. He also threatened to call the Longkou City Police Department to drive them away. He also said he would call the 610 Office to arrest them. Li later instructed one person to record the request. After a very long time, the division chief Wang came to talk with Lv's relatives. However, he simply put them off. Finally Lv's relatives had to leave.
Detained, Interrogated, and Beaten
At about 9:00 p.m., Lv's relatives were enjoying the cool air outside a restaurant. Suddenly two police cars stopped in front of them, and more than ten persons got out of the cars. Most of them weren't wearing uniforms. They didn't show any identification, and the forcibly dragged Lv's relatives into the car and brought them to Wangcun Town Police Station. They searched and interrogated Lv's relatives one by one. No one knows who these people were.
Jiang Xunliang was one of Ms. Lv's relatives. Three people interrogated him, pulled his hair, and even kicked him. Two people grabbed Jiang Xunliang's hand to force him place his fingerprint on an unknown document.
Another relative, Yang Meijuan, refused to cooperate with the interrogation. Chen Weiguang, deputy head of the police station, became angry out of shame. He pulled her hair and slapped her face. He also put her arms behind her back and pushed her into a sofa. He pushed so hard that Yang Meijuan thought her arms were broken. Chen Weiguang, Sun Guang, and another deputy head of the police station continued beating her with her arms behind her back. Yang Meijuan shouted and escaped. Because there were many people around, the evildoers dared not abuse them further, and left. Later, when Yang Meijuan met head Liu Yanjun and told him how Chen Weiguang and Sun Guang beat her, Liu Yanjun didn't believe it and even accused Yang Meijuan of lying.
The interrogation continued for a full day and night. Many officers from the police station came, even the heads of the city police department. Lv's friend told the head that the police station tried to exact a confession by torture, but he simply ignored the statement and left. People from the forced labour camp, the local armed police division, and the 610 Office also participated in the interrogation. However, they got nothing. Lv's relatives and friends returned home.
