On the evening of July 20th, 2011, despite a cold winter wind, Falun Gong practitioners in Canberra, Australia, held a candlelight vigil in front of the Chinese Embassy to commemorate fellow practitioners in China who have died as a result of the 12-year brutal persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

A practitioner read an open letter to the CCP officials drafted by the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG). The letter called for the CCP officials of different levels who have participated in the persecution of Falun Gong to immediately stop committing crimes, record and expose the crimes they have committed, and try to redeem themselves. The letter also stated that the persecution of Falun Gong is destroying the sense of justice and conscience of humanity. What the CCP faces is investigation and the condemnation of all of mankind.

Motorists driving by honked their horns to show their support. Federal police on duty, who arrived quite early, smiled and spoke with practitioners. They have learned through years of contacts with Falun Gong practitioners that the practitioners' protests are peaceful and orderly.

Despite 12 years of persecutions, Falun Gong is now practiced by over 100 million people in 110 countries and regions. The main works of Falun Gong are available in over 30 languages. Falun Gong has been recognised and widely acclaimed throughout the international community.
