Ms. Liu Yuqin, 53, lives in the Jiaofang area of the Ganjingzi District in Dalian City, Liaoning Province. When visiting a Falun Gong practitioner friend on June 25th, Ms. Liu was arrested in a joint effort carried out by the Dalian 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), the Ganjingzi Police, the Guangming Police in Jinzhou, and the Haimao Street Police Station. She has been held in the Yaojia Detention Centre for 15 days.

Ms. Liu's husband has been visually impaired since 1999, and her mother, who is 80 years old, lives with them and their child. The care of the entire family fell on Ms. Liu's shoulders. She is the mainstay of the family.

The Liu family has had a hard time getting along without Ms. Liu over the past 15 days. With the aid of a cane, her husband went to the Ganjingzi Police Station to ask for his wife but was told to check with the 610 Office in Jinzhou. Ganjingzi Police officials denied their involvement in arresting Ms. Liu. The second time that Ms. Liu's husband went to the Ganjingzi Police Station with Ms. Liu's mother, officer Bao Yicai and another officer yelled at them and threatened to throw Ms. Liu's husband out. Her elderly mother was so scared that she fell, and she had to have six stitches in her head. Later, the family went to the 610 Office twice to look for officer Jiao Jian and others responsible, but the receptionists always said they were out and did not allow the family to enter the office.

Ms. Liu's family has never received either a formal or an informal notice regarding Ms. Liu's arrest from any police station or governmental department, although she has already been detained for 15 days. No one has claimed to be responsible for her arrest. Her family not only worries about her safety, but also must manage to get along without her.
