At least 11 Falun Gong practitioners have been arrested by police in Xichang, Sichuan Province, since September 2009.

Ms. Hu Yunhuai was tortured to death at the Xichang City Detention Centre.

Nine practitioners were sentenced to prison terms. Ms. Gao Deyu, Ms. He Zhengqong, Ms. Lu Yuancui, and Ms. Xia Huiqong were taken to the Longquanyi Women's Prison in Chengdu. Ms. Gao Gang, in her 70s, became critically ill as soon as she reached Chengdu. She has been hospitalised in the Jintang County 201 Prison Hospital since then.

Ms. Su Lijuan, Ms. Feng Juan, Ms. He Xianzhen, and Ms. Cheng Donglan were also given prison terms. They have been detained at the Xiaomiao Detention Centre in Xichang, Sichuan Province.

Ms. He Xianzhen's family went to court to ask for more information about her situation, but the judge told them, “We are not handling any cases for Falun Gong.”

Ms. Zhao Jun and Ms. Wei Huirong were both put on trial. It has been almost four months since Ms. Wei's trial, but the municipal court still has not made a decision.

The persecution against Falun Gong has brought enormous suffering to practitioners' families. Ms. Zhao Jun's parents are elderly and ill. She also has a brother who suffers from a mental illness and relies on her care. Since she has been detained for over six months, her brother's condition worsened so much that her parents had to send him to a mental hospital. Ms. Wei's elderly husband had nobody to take care of him after her arrest. Her daughter has repeatedly gone to the authorities to demand her mother's release.

The Persecution at Xiaomiao Detention Centre

Six practitioners are currently detained at the Xiaomiao Detention Centre, including Ms. Su Lijuan, Ms. Feng Juan, Ms. Cheng Donglan, Ms. He Xianzhen, Ms. Zhao Jun, and Ms. Wei Huirong.

Female guard Hao Hui and several other guards searched the cells on December 29th, 2010, and found Falun Gong lectures that practitioners had copied by hand. The guards burned these lectures. When Ms. Cheng, Ms. Su, Ms. Feng, Ms. Zhao, and Ms. He refused to report their attendance that night, Hao Hui and her collaborators (former practitioners, brainwashed against Falun Gong, made to assist in brainwashing and torturing practitioners), including Yang Guoqiang and Mao Jianhua, dragged them to a room and beat them.

Hao Hui slapped at least three practitioners' faces, and Mao Jianhua and Yang Guoqiang kicked the practitioners. After that, Ms. Su, Ms. Feng, and Ms. Cheng were locked in solitary confinement for six days. Ms. Zhao was locked in solitary confinement for half a month.

Hao Hui called Ms. Cheng out on January 22nd, 2011, and beat her. She slapped Ms. Cheng's face and shocked her four times with an electric baton.

Deputy head of the detention centre Cao Yong attempted to force Ms. Cheng, Ms. Su, Ms. Feng, Ms. Zhao, and Ms. He to wear the prison uniform. When the practitioners refused to do so, Cao Yong locked them up in solitary confinement.

Detention centre head Zhou Lian attempted to force Ms. Su to wear the prison uniform. When she refused, Zhou Lian took away her visitation rights and rejected visitation requests from her lawyer and her family members.
