Falun Gong practitioner Niu Huimin from Dingxing County, Baoding City, Hebei Province was arrested and sentenced to a forced labour camp, where she was brutally beaten.

Ms. Niu Huimin was arrested in her home by a group of police officers led by Tian Xinhong and Zhu Xiaotao from the Domestic Security Team of Dingxing County on June 12th, 2010. Officers broke Ms. Niu's kneecap and ankle, and dislocated her lower spine. They dragged her by the hair and slammed her head against a wall, giving her concussion. Officers handcuffed her behind her back and took her to Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labour Camp, located on Shitong Road, Shijiazhuang City. A police officer had to carry her into the forced labour camp, as she was in a semi-unconscious state.

A doctor determined that Ms. Niu's foot joints, knee joints, and spine were badly dislocated. She also had a concussion and internal bleeding in her stomach. This was the result of officers from the National Security Team of Dingxing Police Station severely beating Ms. Niu. She constantly felt nauseas and dizzy, and could not eat anything. After eight months of lying on a bed, she was finally able to get up, but because her muscles had atrophied, she still could not walk. With help from others, after a month before she could walk again.

After the closure of the No. 1 Team of Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labour Camp on April 30th, 2011, Ms. Niu was transferred to the No. 4 Team. There she was forced to go through brainwashing sessions aimed at getting her to give up her belief in Falun Gong. Ms. Niu was also forced to work and eat at the labour camp cafeteria. Due to the excessive workload, she felt dizzy and threw up whenever she ate something. Zhang Yanyan, the team leader, would not allow others to assist Ms. Niu when she walked. Zhang ordered inmates Guo Qiaoxian (from Boye), Bai Suqin (from Yanshan), Xu Airong (from Tangshan), Shi Shufen (from Dingxing), Ning Yuying (from Qinhuangdao), Wang Hui (from Huanghua) and criminal Zheng Lingdan to beat Ms. Niu. They also forced her to write her name on blank paper, and they pressed her fingerprint on it. Ms. Niu tore up the paper, as she knew it would be used to forge a statement of giving up Falun Gong in her name. They pinched Ms. Niu Humin's arms until they were bruised, and officials extended her term in the forced labour camp.
