On the evening of January 11th, 2011, policemen from the Lugu Police Department of Shijingshan District in Beijing broke into Falun Gong practitioner Dong Xinzhen's home. Her personal belongings were confiscated, and she was detained for one and a half months. Ms. Dong has suffered serious physical and mental persecution.

On January 12th, Dong Xinzhen was sent to the Shijingshan District Detention Centre. During her detention, she was humiliated and cursed at by the inmates and guards. She started a hunger strike on the second day after she arrived there, but the detention centre refused to release her. On January 26th, she started a second hunger strike. On January 29th, she was transferred to the Shijingshan District Lockup and continued the hunger strike. On the evening of February 25th, she was finally released.

When Dong Xinzhen held the first hunger strike, the director of the detention centre ordered collaborators (former practitioners, brainwashed against Falun Gong, made to assist in brainwashing and torturing practitioners) to hold her down so that the centre's doctor could force-feed her with soy milk and unknown drugs. The doctor even punched her during the process. The force-feeding caused Ms. Dong to lose teeth and vomit blood. The second hunger strike lasted for about one month. The doctor ordered the guards to hold her in order to force-feed her through her nose. She was force-fed with unknown drugs, causing a burning feeling in her stomach. In addition, she was forced to have blood drawn twice while she was extremely weak. As a result, both her mental and physical condition declined.

Dong Xinzhen was often monitored and persecuted by her local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), police department, and neighbourhood association. On November 5th, 2002, three policemen, including Zheng Kaihong and Guo Renchen, four security guards, and two workers from the neighbourhood association arrested her and imprisoned her in a brainwashing centre for nine days. The guards at the brainwashing centre violently punched and kicked Ms. Dong. They even grabbed her hair and slammed her head against a wall, which later caused chronic headaches. On June 16th, 2009, Tian Baogui from the Yanan Neighbourhood Association, Yang Jianfei from the 610 Office, and two policemen (one with badge number 043855) broke into Dong Xinzhen's home. They took away her belongings and forced her to admit that she was still practising Falun Gong.
