Falun Gong practitioner Niu Huimin was cooking at home at around 3 p.m. on June 10th, 2010 when the police broke into her home. She was taken by force to Luxi Police Station and detained. Ms. Niu lived in Ciyunge District, Dingxing Township, Baoding City, Hebei Province.

On the morning of June 12th, Ms. Niu was transferred to the Dingxing Public Security Bureau. She was beaten by Tian Xinhong of the Domestic Security Team and two police officers. They kicked her legs and lower back, and punched her in the head They took turns hitting and cursing at her until she passed out.

Later, the police bent her over, handcuffed her, and took her to the Women's Labour Camp of Hebei Province, located on Shitong Street in Shijiazhuang. When they took her out of the van, because she was only semi-conscious and had back and leg injuries, a policeman had to carry her into the labour camp.

When the labour camp saw what terrible condition she was in, they ordered a physical exam. The doctor found that she had serious bone dislocation in the foot, knee, and lower back. She was also suffering from a concussion and gastrorrhagia. Even now, she cannot take care of herself. She often has headaches and vomits. Her family members have repeatedly requested her release. Each time, the labour camp said that because Ms. Niu refused to be “transformed” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] they could not release her. The family members also sought her release from the Domestic Security Team at Dingxing Public Security Bureau. Staff at the Public Security Bureau claimed that they were only in charge of arresting people, not releasing people, and that the labour camp was the one that could release people.
