Recently, several reports on the Clearwisdom website mentioned the persecution of Ms. Liang Bo, formerly a teacher with the School of Literature, Journalism and Communication at the Central University for Nationalities. Due to her firm belief in Falun Gong, she was arrested, detained, tortured, and put on trial. Currently, Ms. Liang Bo's condition is grave due to being seriously mistreated.

As we call for the immediate release of Ms. Liang Bo, another practitioner, young Ms. Zhao Xin, comes to mind. Also college teacher, she worked for the Industry and Commerce Administration University in Beijing. She was arrested in 2000 and later violently beaten until vertebrae in her neck were fractured. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been persecuting Falun Gong practitioners for 12 years. The methods of torture and extent of cruelty used on this group of people, who follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, are shocking.

Ms. Liang Bo Critical

During the past ten years, the CCP has continued to escalate the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Though the media has stopped defaming Falun Gong on a large scale and even seldom mentions Falun Gong anymore, the CCP has never stopped its cruel persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. In 2001, 43-year-old Ms. Liang Bo, also a college teacher who practised Falun Gong, was fired by officials from the Central University for Nationalities. The CCP has persecuted her many times.

Ms. Liang Bo was a faculty member with the Chinese Department at Central University for Nationalities. Due to her firm belief in Falun Gong, school authorities removed her as a class adviser and later refused to let her give lectures and stopped assigning her any work. Instead, the police from the school security office followed and monitored her 24 hours a day. The Central University for Nationalities suspended Ms. Liang's salary in August 2004 and fired her in March 2009.

On May 20th, 2010, officers from the Domestic Security Division, Haidian Police Bureau, broke into Ms. Liang Bo's home and hauled her off to the Haidian Detention Centre. On June 18th, Dong Yongping, a policewoman in the detention centre, ordered Ms. Liang to wear jail clothing. When Ms. Liang refused to do as she was told because she had been arrested, Dong Yongping held her down on the ground and cut her hair.

According to Mr. Cheng Hai, who was Ms. Liang Bo's attorney as well as a human rights attorney in Beijing, “They stepped on her legs in the restroom, then told a fat man to sit on her stomach for more than an hour. As a result, her legs became numb. Since then, she has had problems with her legs. Later, she was detained in an isolated cell, where she was handcuffed and her feet shackled for more than ten days. She was not allowed to change her clothes, take a shower, or use the toilet. On August 12th, she was pushed down onto the cell floor. As a result, her knees swelled, her right arm was injured, and she couldn't walk. Dong Yongping pressed her left leg into Ms. Liang Bo's chest. Thereafter, Ms. Liang had extreme pain on her thoracic vertebra, back, and chest.” Dong Yongping weighed more than 75 kg, when she sat on and pressed her leg into Ms. Liang's chest, which caused the cartilage around her ribs to break and bleed.

On the morning of September 8th, 2010, officials from the Haidian District Court in Beijing put Ms. Liang Bo on trial. She was sentenced to three and a half years in prison.

Informants revealed that Ms. Liang Bo weighed only 30 kg and had fever every day. Her blood pressure was only 40 to 60. She showed symptoms of having a blood clot and her life was in danger.
