Mr. Wang Zhansuo was formerly vice-president of the Intermediate People's Court of Agriculture in the Seventh Division of the Xinjiang Production & Construction Army Corps. He was known to be a very competent judge. Despite this, he was arrested and sentenced to four years in prison just because he practised Falun Gong. He has been imprisoned for more than ten months. As a result of persecution, he has become emaciated and very weak. He has difficulty eating and can barely walk by himself.

Mr. Wang is a licenced attorney for the Hengxingtong Law Office in the Huangdao District, Qingdao City, Shandong Province. Because he practises Falun Gong, the Huangdao Politics and Law Committee and the Huangdao Public Security Departments secretly sentenced him to four years in prison on October 26th, 2010. In late December 2010, the Qingdao Intermediate People's Court upheld the original sentence in response to his appeal. During the process, they twice forbade the attorney hired by Mr. Wang's family from visiting him. They lied to Mr. Wang's family many times, saying that Mr. Wang refused to ask for his attorney.

According to an insider, during the entire investigation and trial process, the Huangdao Public Security Departments colluded with the Qingdao Intermediate People's Court and withheld from Mr. Wang the information that his family had hired an attorney for him. Conversely, they deceived Mr. Wang's family and said that Mr. Wang refused to ask for an attorney. They wanted to prevent the attorney from pleading not-guilty on his behalf. Among the personnel involved, Deng Huanli from the Huangdao 610 Office [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong], Wu Di and Teng Zhaomeng from the Huangdao Procuratorate, Chen Daping from the Huangdao Court, Wang Jizhong from the Huangdao Detention Centre, and Ren from the Qingdao Intermediate People's Court bear unquestionable responsibility.

On the night of March 4th, 2010, Mr. Wang's family was taken away. His wife, Ms. Song Jiling, has been released because of hypertension but lives under surveillance. Mr. Wang and his son, Wang Xia, were detained in the Huangdao Detention Centre (also known as Liuhuabo Detention Centre). In April 2010, Mr. Wang Xia was released but remains under surveillance.

Mr. Wang Zhaosuo is detained in the Huangdao Detention Centre. The public security departments threatened that they would send his son, Wang Xia, to a forced labour camp if he did not corroborate the evidence they fabricated.

On October 26th, 2010, Cheng Daping, chief judge of the Huangdao Criminal Court; Li Ming; and others went to the Huangdao Detention Centre and secretly delivered the sentence to Mr. Wang. During the whole process, the court did not inform Mr. Wang's family at all and did not deliver the sentencing statement to them. When Mr. Wang's family asked Chen Daping for the sentencing statement, she claimed, “I can't give it to you based on the law.”

According to the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) laws, Mr. Wang's family has the right to visit him after the second trial ends. However, the Huangdao 610 Office claimed that defendants in all other cases except cases related to Falun Gong practitioners are allowed to meet with their families.
