Jilin City Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yu Quan died at the hands of the police of the Jilin City Domestic Security Division on December 11th.

Ms. Yu, in her 60s, was arrested at an apartment in Building 17, Dongshichang, Jilin City, by officers from the Jilin Station Police Station on April 25th, 2009. She refused to tell them her name. The police then detained her as Wang (last name) at the Jilin City Detention Centre. The Changyi District Court sentenced her to two years in prison on November 2009.

Her family made great efforts to search for her after her disappearance. Their efforts were hindered by officers and agents from the local judiciary system. They finally found her in the Jilin City Middle Court. They met her in the courthouse on February 22nd, 2010. They hired an attorney to appeal on her behalf.

Her family was notified of her critical condition after she was admitted to the Jilin City Tuberculosis Hospital (also called Jilin City Third Hospital). Her younger sister stayed with her in the hospital on December 9th and noticed that she was confused and spoke incoherently. Officers handcuffed her to the bed and told the family that she had tuberculosis.

On December 11th, police transferred Ms. Yu to the Jilin City Four Six Five Hospital, claiming she needed emergency care. Ms. Yu died the same day.
