Ms. Cai Guijiao, mother of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen Min, was beaten by the police from the Domestic Security Division of the Yueyang City Junshan Police Department when she appealed for her daughter's innocence.

At around 10:30 p.m. on October 11th, over a dozen police officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Yueyang City Junshan Police Department and the Liangxinbao Police Station, including Zhu Gangyao, Shen Wenxin, Yang Wenlie, Xiang Yuehua, Li Jun and Xu Jun, went to Ms. Chen Min's home in Liangxinbao Town and arrested her. Her home was ransacked and her computer and other personal belongings worth more than 10,000 yuan1 were confiscated. After two days of interrogation, she was sent to the Yueyang Detention Centre. On October 19th, Ms. Chen was sentenced to three years of forced labour. On October 29th, she was sent to the Baimalong Forced Labour Camp in Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province.

Ms. Chen's family received some documents stating her “illegal” activities but they were all false information. Ms. Cai Guijiao had an appeal letter written up. On November 18th, she sent it to the Domestic Security Division of the Yueyang City Junshan Police Department.

Right after she got there, police officer Xiang Yuehua and Li Jun told her to hand over the documents Ms. Chen's family received, since they heard an appeal letter was written against them. When Ms. Cai refused, they started to punch and kick her. Her face and legs were covered with bruises. All of the buttons on her jackets were ripped off. They also kept asking her who had written the appeal letter.

They took Ms. Cai back to her home and ransacked it until they found the documents.

Ms. Cai, in her 60s, and Ms. Chen began to practise Falun Gong in 1998. All of their illnesses went away, and they regained their healthy bodies. Since the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999, Ms. Cai has been repeatedly arrested, and her home ransacked. She was sent to a brainwashing facility to be tortured and persecuted like thousands of Falun Gong practitioners.
