On November 22nd, 2010, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Ke was visiting Mr. Zheng Xiaoqi, who is also a practitioner, when five policemen came and ransacked Mr. Zheng's home. The police searched Ms. Zhang's bag but found nothing. They ordered two practitioners to go with them to search Ms. Zhang's home. Mr. Zheng managed to escape and Ms. Zhang was held in Chenjiaji Brainwashing Centre, located in the Jiang'an District.

In the past ten years, Ms. Zhang Ke and Mr. Zheng Xiaoqi have been arrested several times. Ms. Zhang has been sentenced before.

Ms. Zhang Ke, 51, used to be on the medical staff at Jiang'an Vehicle Manufacturing Plant Hospital. Her husband died at work, leaving Ms. Zhang to raise their son on her own. After she began practising Falun Gong in 1995, she always let others go first when their salaries were being increased. During the flood in 1998, she helped her colleagues in trouble by donating thousands of yuan1.

After the Communist regime began persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Zhang was sentenced to two and a half years and detained in Wuhan Women's Prison. Guard Jiang Chun brainwashed her and forced her to work beyond her endurance. She was also tortured by being forced to stand for long periods of time. As a result she fainted several times. After she was released, she was fired from her job. She had to do odd jobs and apply for unemployment benefits of 200 yuan to survive and support her son.

On January 31st, 2003, Chinese New Year's Eve, Tong Liying, head of the residential committee; Li Jing, residential committee staff person; and an officer from the Xincun Police Station took Ms. Zhang from her home to the brainwashing centre. Her son begged them to let his mother at least finish her New Year's meal, but they refused. She was held at the brainwashing centre for three months.

On September 25th, 2009, Hu Shaobin, an officer with the Jiang'an District 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) told Xu Li, head of the residential committee of No. 2 Village in Xuzhou; Li Jing; and several police officers to go to Ms. Zhang's home and take her to Chenjiaji Brainwashing Centre in preparation for the "October 1st" parade of the Communist Army. They claimed that Ms. Zhang would be released after October 1st. However, she was held for five months--until the Chinese New Year. Finally, she was set free because of her mother's adamant appeal.

Mr. Zheng Xiaoqi is 46 years old. He was employed at Jiang'an Vehicle Factory affiliated with the Nanche Corp. He began practising Falun Gong in 1995. He was an honest and hard worker. He was the only employee whose products were exempted from being tested. Moreover, he was awarded first prize in a competition of all workers in the factory.

In the past ten years of the persecution, Mr. Zheng has been detained in brainwashing centres multiple times. The longest detention period was in 2005, when he was in the Shenjiaji Brainwashing Centre for eight months.

At the end of 2006, under a lot of pressure from the local 610 Office, two security persons in the factory tried to take Mr. Zheng to the brainwashing centre from work. Mr. Zheng resolutely refused to go.

As an employee of Jiang'an Vehicle Factory, Mr. Zheng had no guarantee of personal safety. Instead, the factory helped to persecute him and did not allow him to work. When the factory was being reorganised, he was fired from his job.

On December 13th, 2009, when Mr. Zheng went to Beijing to apply for a visa to the United States, the police took him away from the hotel half an hour after he arrived. He was held for five days and taken to Chenjiaji Brainwashing Centre in the Jiang'an District. His family demanded that he be released. The police did not set him free until the Chinese New Year.

Now Mr. Zheng has been forced to become homeless to avoid further persecution and no one knows his whereabouts.
