Suzhou City 610 Office agents [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong], along with officers from the Domestic Security Division and from the Police Department, recently arrested several Falun Gong practitioners and held them in a brainwashing facility. Some practitioners' relatives stood up against the police's criminal deeds, successfully stopping some of the attempted arrests.

At around 5:00 p.m. on November 9th, 2010, Zengdu District Domestic Security Division officer Li Jinbo and several police officers arrested Ms. Chen Wenqing, who had just left work and had not yet entered his home.

Eight police officers broke into elderly practitioner Mr. Wang Zhiming's home around 8:00 p.m. on November 9th, and arrested him.

A group of police officers broke into Mr. Wei Wei's home on the evening of November 12th. They punched and kicked him. When he shouted for help, an officer grabbed his neck and threatened to strangle him if he shouted again. Mr. Wei was taken away.

Several police officers broke into Ms. Shao Huaqiang's home on November 13th. The officers attempted to arrest her but failed, because Ms. Shao's family member, who does not practise Falun Gong, strongly defended her.

On the morning of November 17th a group of police officers attempted to arrest Ms. Yu Guangqin while she was helping to prepare breakfast in front of the elementary school. Several people in the immediate vicinity surrounded her and loudly denounced the police, and they were unable to arrest her.

Several police officers were staked out for several days near the home of Ms. Zhang, a retired teacher. They attempted to arrest Ms. Zhang, who is in her 70s, but they failed because she was not at home.

These arrested practitioners are being held in a brainwashing centre that the 610 Office set up at the Jinlin Restaurant in the city's northern suburb. We've learned that 610 Office agents hired three former practitioners who have turned against Falun Gong, paying each of them 2,000 yuan1 per month, to try to get the detained practitioners to give up their belief.

In addition, practitioners Fang Guozhong and Liu Hongpin were arrested on November 16th as they spoke with people about Falun Gong in Wanhe Town, Suzhou City. The police handcuffed the two practitioners together and took them to the Wanhe Town Police Station. They were able to escape shortly after.
