On June 4th, 2010, the Minhang police in Shanghai arrested Ms. Shi Jinhua, who is seventy years old, because she mailed several letters talking about Falun Gong. Her family asked an attorney to visit her and arrange her release.

When the attorney went to make inquires about Ms. Shi's situation, he was told that on October 25th, she had been sentenced to four years in prison by the Minhang Court. But her family had not been informed at all. Later on, they went to Judge Yang Chao, and he told them that the law does not definitely say that family members must be informed about a court session.

At the Minhang Detention Centre, the attorney's requests to visit Ms. Shi were refused three times, citing a certain regulation. After repeated negotiations, the detention centre reluctantly agreed, but the attorney just saw Ms. Shi through a window. She looked very weak and there were red spots all over her body.

Since July 20th, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has persecuted Falun Gong. Ms. Shi Jinhua used her personal experiences to explain the truth of Falun Gong. In the past 11 years, she has been arrested and detained fourteen times. She has been beaten and tortured. Her home has been ransacked many times, and her property confiscated.

Ms. Shi Jinhua is elderly and needs to be at home where her daughter can take care of her.
