On May 26th, 2010, at around 7 a.m., Falun Gong practitioner Yang Chanrong was secretly arrested by the Changzhou 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). He was first detained at a brainwashing centre and was then transferred to the Xilin Detention Centre in Changzhou City, where he has been detained ever since.

Yang Chanrong started to practise Falun Gong in 1995. His body and mind were greatly purified and his health improved. His wife Zhou Fenglin and his sister Yang Shundi also practise Falun Gong. The whole family has greatly benefited from the Falun Gong practice and they have become healthy in body and mind.

In July 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute Falun Gong. Yang Chanrong and his family have suffered from arrest, detention, brainwashing, sentencing, forced labour, torture and other forms of persecution. On January 9th, 2001, Zhou Fenglin, Yang Chanrong's wife, was persecuted to death due to force-feeding at the Xilin Detention Centre. The CCP authorities strictly blocked the information and sentenced Yang Chanrong to ten years in prison with a fabricated charge. After being illegally imprisoned for seven years, Yang Chanrong was released in 2007. Yang Chanrong's elder sister was also sentenced to three years' forced labour just because she was trying to find her brother and sister-in-law's whereabouts.

Yang Chanrong Sentenced to Ten Years in Prison

In October 1999, Yang Chanrong was arrested at his workplace by Changzhou 610 Office personnel. He had been detained at the Xilin Detention Centre for nine months.

In October 2000, under the Changzhou 610 Office's directives, the police from Qingtan Police Station broke into Yang Chanrong's home and arrested him again. Later Yang Chanrong was sentenced to ten years in prison and sent to Suzhou City Prison in Jiangsu Province. The so-called evidence that the CCP court used to charge Yang was that Yang rented a bus and provided transportation to people between Changzhou and Beijing. This was clearly written in the sentencing letter to Yang. After suffering from seven years of persecution in the prison, Yang was released in 2007.

In May 2010, Yang was arrested again by the Changzhou 610 Office secretly. He has been detained ever since.

Yang Chanrong's Wife Zhou Fenglin Arrested Many Times and Persecuted to Death Due to Force-Feedings

Ms. Zhou Fenglin, Yang Chanrong's wife, was strict with herself in following Falun Gong's principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. After the CCP started to persecute Falun Gong, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong many times and was arrested and detained many times. On January 9th, 2001, she was persecuted to death in the Xilin Detention Centre due to force-feeding. She died at age 32.

In October 1999, Zhou Fenglin went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was brutally beaten at Tiananmen Square by the police and was then detained at Fengtai Stadium in Beijing. In the stadium she was brutally beaten by a strong policeman until she fainted, because she tried to stop the police from beating other Falun Gong practitioners. Later, the Changzhou 610 Office officers brought her back to Changzhou, but she walked away with righteous thoughts on the way to Changzhou and went back to Beijing. She walked to Tiananmen Square again and shouted, "Falun Gong is good!" Later she was arrested and beaten again by the police in Tiananmen Square. She was brought back again to Changzhou by the 610 Office and was detained at the Xilin Detention Centre in Changzhou for one month.

In January 2000, Zhou Fenglin walked for one month to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong again. This time she went to the Appeals Office. Just after she arrived, she was arrested by the police from the Beijing Office of Changzhou and was brought back to Changzhou again. She was detained at the Xilin Detention Centre for one month again.

In March 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal once again. She arrived at the Appeals Office and filled out all of the forms to specify the reason for the appeal along with her address. This time she was arrested again by the police from the Beijing Branch of Changzhou 610 Office and was detained in the Xilin Detention Centre for another month.

In August 2000, Zhou Fenglin was reported to the police while talking to people about Falun Gong in Yangzhong County, Jiangsu Province. She was arrested by the police from Yangzhong County and was later detained at the Xilin Detention Centre.

In October 2000, Zhou Fenglin went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong again. She put up a few hundred posters of "Falun Gong is good" on the streets. Later she was reported to the police and was detained at the Xilin Detention Centre for yet another month.

On December 27th, 2000, just one week after Zhou Fenglin was released from the Xilin Detention Centre, under the Changzhou 610 Office's directives, the police from Qingtan Police Station in Changzhou broke into Zhou's home and arrested her. She was arrested and taken to the Qingtan Police Station first. The police tried to extract a confession by torture for 48 hours, but they got nothing from her. Later she was transferred to the Xilin Detention Centre. On January 9th, 2001, Zhou Fenglin was persecuted to death in the Xilin Detention Centre due to force-feedings.

The Truth of Zhou Fenglin's Death Due to Force-Feeding

The cause of death of Zhou Fenglin was very unusual. The detention centre lied, saying that her death was due to illness. After Zhou Fenglin's death, the detention centre was afraid and did not publish the news. At the same time, the Changzhou 610 Office immediately directed the court to sentence Zhou Fenglin's husband, Yang Chanrong, to ten years in prison. His four year old son was left alone at home without his parents.

A lady who witnessed Zhou Fenglin's death recently spoke out about the truth and the torture she suffered. She was imprisoned in the same prison cell with Zhou Fenglin and stayed with her for 11 days. She was deeply touched by Zhou Fenglin's bravery, strength and kindness. In order to show her respect to Zhou Fenglin, she wrote down the cause of death to give us as evidence. We have attached her written testimony below:

"I lived the past nine years in an extremely painful and condemned mood. My heart was always restless. I want to expose the truth I saw to have peace of mind. After being silent for so many years, I made up my mind to tell people the truth, that Zhou Fenglin's death was not due to illness, but due to force-feeding. On or around January 9th, 2000, in the morning Zhou Fenglin was brought out again for interrogation by the police. Soon she was dragged back by a few police. At that time, Zhou Fenglin's complexion looked very bad due to the beating. Her mouth still had the feeding tube in it. The police then locked her on the board and warned us not to take out the tube from her mouth. At that time, we had four prisoners, including one Falun Gong practitioner. Soon we saw her complexion getting worse and worse, and her breathing was getting more and more anxious. We pushed the alarm to notify the police, but the police did not consider it serious at all. We pushed the alarm a few times. The police said we should take it easy and let her go. Later we found Zhou Fenglin in an extremely dangerous situation. We pushed the alarm again. After a while, the police finally came to the room, but it was already too late and Zhou Fenglin was already dead. The police threatened us, saying that her death was due to illness. Later a policeman named Jiang Zhaohong came and ordered us, saying that we must say Zhou Fenglin's death was due to illness."

Yang Chanrong's Elder Sister Yang Shundi Sentenced to Three Years of Forced Labour for Trying to See Her Sister-In-Law

In October 1999, Yang Shundi went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa and was arrested by the police at a hotel. Later she was sent back by the officers in the Beijing Office of Changzhou and was detained at the Xilin Detention Centre for a month.

In May 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal again. Later she was sent back again and detained at the Xilin Detention Centre for another month.

On January 21st, 2001, Yang Shundi heard from other sources that her sister-in-law Zhou Fenglin was persecuted to death. She went to the Qingtan Police Station to verify it. The police at the Qingtan Police Station tried every way of stopping her from finding out the truth and talked ambiguously to shirk the responsibility.

On January 22nd, 2001, the Chinese New Year's Eve, seven police from the Qingtan Police Station broke into Yang Chanrong's home and arrested Yang Shundi and Yang Chanrong's four-year-old son, Yang Yanjun, and took them to the Qingtan Police Station. Yang Chanrong's son was so frightened that he wet his pants. During the 48 hours of detention in the Qingtan Police Station, Yang Shundi and the four-year-old boy did not have anything to eat or drink. The boy's body was wet, and he was very cold and hungry. Yan Shundi begged the police to allow her go back home to change the trousers for the boy, feed him and then come back, but the police firmly refused.

On January 24th, 2001, Yang Shundi and her nephew, Yang Yanjun, were detained at the brainwashing centre. Later Yang Shundi was transferred to the Xilin Detention Centre. Her nephew, Yang Yanjun, sent one of his relatives home to look after them. In the detention centre, Yang Shundi requested to police officer Jiang Zhaohong to visit her sister-in-law Zhou Fenglin. However, policeman Jiang Zhaohong refused and lied that, "Zhou Fenglin is fine." Later on Yang Shundi requested again to policeman Jiang Zhaohong that she could just listen to Zhou Fenglin's voice, but this time she was not only refused by the police, but also brutally beaten and hung up by her handcuffs. Because Yang Shundi constantly requested to see Zhou Fenglin, ten days later, Yang Shundi was falsely accused by the Changzhou 610 Office and sentenced to three years of forced labour. She was imprisoned at the Judong Forced Labour Camp in Jiangsu Province and suffered from brutal persecution inside the prison.

On August 27th, 2008, Yang Shundi was arrested and falsely charged again by the Changzhou 610 Office. Later she was sentenced to another two years of forced labour.
