Police officers arrested Ms. Jiang Wenling from Shanghai on July 20th, and held her in Zhangjiang Detention Centre. She was taken to Qingbu Forced Labour Camp in Shanghai on August 1st for one year.

On the afternoon of July 20th, Ms. Jiang took a taxi. As she talked to the driver, she told him the facts about Falun Gong and urged him to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The driver expressed his willingness to quit, but when Ms. Jiang got out of the cab, the driver immediately reported her to the police and then followed her. When she walked past Zhangjiang Police Station, a group of police rushed out to arrest her. The police then ransacked her home and confiscated some of her personal belongings.

The taxi driver who reported Ms. Jiang was later identified by other taxi drivers who witnessed Ms. Jiang being grabbed by the police to be a plainclothes policeman whose main job is to report practitioners to the authorities. On the eve of the Shanghai Expo, many practitioners were reported to the authorities by this type of plainclothes officers.

Ms. Jiang and her husband used to have many illnesses. Her husband was bedridden for over nine years, and her legs hurt badly and over time became deformed. They used to live in the countryside, and Ms. Jiang had to work in the fields to earn a living. When they both started to practise Falun Gong, their illnesses soon disappeared, and they became healthy again. Whenever Ms. Jiang met people, she would talk to them about the persecution and tell them that Falun Gong is good.
