Falun Gong practitioner Dai Qiongxian from Kunming City is now being detained in the No. 2 Women's Prison in Yunnan Province. Ms. Dai is steadfast in her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, but she is strictly controlled in the prison, where she is forced to sit on a small stool for over sixteen hours a day. She has not been allowed to write letters to her family, nor has she been allowed any visits with them.

Ms. Dai's health has deteriorated greatly from being tortured in prison. She is now as thin as a rake, and her eyesight is almost gone. She is extremely weak. Her husband, Tang Luosong, 70, started having heart problems from worrying about her. He has been unable to sleep and his health has continued to decline.

Ms. Dai, 66, a retiree of the Yunnan Province Electric Company, lives in Chuanfang Community in Kunming City. On August 26th, 2008, Ms. Dai was reported when she was distributing Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution at Hengxing Park near Xiyuan Road, Kunming City. She was then arrested by the Domestic Security Bureau of Xishan Branch. At about 10:45 p.m. on the same day, He Yong and another four policemen broke into her home, where they proceeded to confiscate Falun Gong books and informational materials. They left after 1 a.m. that night.

Mr. Tang went to different departments to appeal his wife's detainment. Several times he requested that Ms. Dai's trial in Kuming City Intermediate Court be audited, and that he be able to defend his wife. However, the court lied to him and told him that she had not yet been put on trial. On April 4th, 2009, Mr. Tang received a letter from Xishan Detention Centre, and he then learned that his wife had been put on trial secretly and was sentenced to three years in prison. When he received a notification from the No. 2 Women's Prison in Yunnan Province sent out on May 18th, 2009, he then knew where his wife was being held.

On August 19th, 2009, Mr. Tang went to the prison, hoping to meet with his wife, whom he had not seen for a whole year. Mr. Tang had shown the proof of residence required by the prison three months prior. However, a policewoman (Police No. 5355191) asked for another document from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Yunnan Province and the Domestic Security Bureau to prove that Ms. Dai did not practise Falun Gong. Another year has passed, yet prison officials continue to deny Mr. Tang any visits with his wife.

Ms. Dai was previously sentenced to a one and a half year labour camp term after appealing for Falun Gong in Beijing on October 10th, 2000.
