The guards at Fangqiang Forced Labour Camp in Jiangsu Province use a number of cruel torture methods to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. I witnessed some of these methods being used during 2008 and 2009. The things I have seen have made me realise the horrors of this brutal persecution.

The people that I saw persecuting practitioners include Party secretary Wang Fei; team leaders Wu and Wang; guards Wei Honghui, Pan Yuhua, Xu Yuhong, Guo Hailong, Zhu Kanglin, Jiang Xinhai, Gu Yili, Zhu Xiaoyun, Ding Yong and Zhang Jie. They beat and kicked practitioners, and extorted money from them. The torture methods they used were cruel and terrifying.

The following accounts are what I personally witnessed:

1. Mr. Tang Xueyong and Mr. Shi Bingjun were beaten by the guards, deprived of sleep and tortured. As they would not renounce their belief, Wei Honghui, Pan Yuhua, Wang Fei and Guo Hailong extended the practitioners' sentences for an extra three months and intensified the torture.

2. When practitioners are sent to Fangqiang Forced Labour Camp, they are first sent to the brainwashing centre. In this particular instance, it was a prison cell where nobody could hear the screaming from the beatings or the noise from the torture instruments.

Wang Fei, Wei Honghui, Pan Yuhua, Xu Yuhong, Zhu Kanglin, Jiang Xinhai and Gu Yili are responsible for organising all the torture sessions, and Guo Hailong is responsible for selecting strong and tough inmates to monitor practitioners. The inmates' main task was to beat practitioners in whatever way they wanted in order to achieve the requirements of the guards. If inmates couldn't meet the requirements, they would be punished or lose points (Points are used as a reward system, amounting to special privileges or reduced sentences for the inmates). The inmates were merciless in beating practitioners. Wei Honghui and Jiang Xinhai beat Mr. Peng Jilong to the extent that he became deaf. Mr. Wang Yanfeng, Mr. Huang Yonghong, Mr. Zeng Jiafeng and Mr. Liu Shude were beaten so badly that they were temporarily disabled.

3. Zhu Kanglin, Pan Yuhua and Wei Honghei ordered inmates to brutally beat Mr Kong Xianyong. Zhu Kanglin boiled many kettles and kept pouring boiling water over Mr. Kong's head, in an attempt to get him to renounce his belief. Mr. Kong did not succumb to their demands.

4. Mr. Wu Zhenghai was forced to bend down and remain still, with the weight of his body resting on the backs of his legs, for 20 hours a day, and was forced to do this for the next 20 days. He was beaten by the inmates when he moved, and he fainted many times. The guards then tried to force him to write articles slandering Falun Gong. When Mr. Wu refused, Pan Yuhua, Wei Honghui, Zhu Kanglin, Jiang Xinhai and Xu Yuhong shocked him repeatedly with electric batons.

5. Inmates deprived Mr. Yang Hanzheng, 66, of sleep for over forty days, and he was severely beaten by Wei Honghui, Zhu Kanglin and Pan Yuhua. He lost consciousness many times. When inmates were ordered to beat Mr. Qu Xuan, they covered him with blankets and violently beat him. This happened on numerous occasions, and each time he was beaten until he fell unconscious on the ground. Mr. Wei Kedong wrote a letter to senior ranking officials, to let them know what was happening in the labour camp. Guards confiscated the letter and Zhu Kanglin deprived him of sleep for the next five months.

6. Guards who actively participate in persecuting practitioners at the labour camp are rewarded and sent on various trips around the country. Inmates who severely beat practitioners were rewarded with trips to Yancheng National Wildlife Park. The cruelest guards were promoted.

Many practitioners are still being held at Fangqiang Forced Labour Camp. Guards torture practitioners and don't allow them to have any contact with each other.
