Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wu Jinfeng from Laiyang City, Shandong Province was arrested in April, 2010. Her family hired attorney Ji Tao from Jinzhengtong Law Firm in Laiyang City to represent her. However, instead of helping Ms. Wu, he helped the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) to persecute her. Ms. Wu was tortured to the verge of death in a detention centre. She is now extremely weak. More details about the case follow.

At noon on April 22nd, 2010, Ms. Wu, in her fifties, was distributing Falun Gong DVDs in front of the gate of Fuqian Middle School in Laiyang City. She was picked up by Feng Zhenya and An Shouliang from Wenhualu Police Station. At around 6 p.m., about a dozen policemen broke into her home, ransacking it, confiscating her DVD burner, DVDs, computer and other private items. Ms. Wu was then detained in Laiyang City Detention Centre.

Her family hired a local attorney, Ji Tao, to represent her. Ji never told Wu's husband about her deteriorating health condition in the detention centre.

On May 28th, Wu Jinfeng was officially arrested. Staff at the 610 Office did not ask Ms. Wu's family to sign an arrest warrant, but instead had her attorney Ji Tao sign one. Although Ji accepted money from Ms. Wu's family and was supposed to represent her interests, he signed her arrest warrant without knowledge of her husband.

At the end of July, Ms. Wu's case was transferred to Laiyang City procuratorate, but the attorney did not notify her family about this either. Ms. Wu's husband had by then lost confidence in Ji and hired another two attorneys to defend her.

On July 31st, two attorneys came to Laiyang Detention Centre and met with Ms. Wu. However Ms. Wu looked quite differently from before. She was very healthy before. Though in her fifties, she had a lot of spirit. However, after just three months in the detention centre, Ms. Wu seemed much older. She felt numb and weak all over since May, quivering all over. She had been unable to eat anything for more than ten days. When signing, she could not even read due to her quivering. She would fall down even after standing for a little while. She is on the verge of death.

Although she is in such a critical condition, people in 610 Office in Laiyang City wanted to continue the persecution. When Ms. Wu's husband learned that her life was in danger, he felt very anxious. In order to rescue Ms. Wu, he has applied to have her released on bail.
