In 2007 most of the Falun Gong practitioners in Xigemu Forced Labour Camp (in Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province) were apprehended from surrounding areas, including Shuangyashan City, Tongjiang City, Fuyuan County, Tangyuan County, Huanan County, and Huachuan County.

The practitioners were initially detained in Division 8 after they were apprehended. The head of Division 8 is Liu Yadong. Zhou Jiahui and Zhang Yan are the deputy-heads. Every practitioner there was forced by the guards to sign a guarantee statement to renounce practising Falun Gong. The guards used force to hold and guide the practitioners' hands to sign the statements. Those who refused were abused and slapped in the face. There were wounds on some practitioners' necks and mouths. After three months, the practitioners were transferred to Division 7, where they were forced to package disposable chopsticks. All the profits earned by the forced labourers were divided amongst the guards.

In Division 8, except for the scheduled time to eat, sleep, and use the toilet, practitioners were forced to stay seated on stools and were not allowed to walk around or talk freely. They were forced to study the communist regime's regulations. Practitioners who refused to recite these regulations were abused, humiliated, and warned that they would be handcuffed if they did not co-operate.

Ms. Li Chunyan Was Handcuffed for a Long Duration and Forced to Sit on a Small Stool

At that time, Ms. Li Chunyang from Hegang was detained in a room alone and was handcuffed for about two weeks. She and her husband were apprehended by the police when they were handing out Falun Gong materials. Every day, Ms. Li was forced to sit on a wheel axle of strings with both hands handcuffed behind her and to a mental ring on the wall. Each day, Guard Liu Yadong, Sun Hui, Zhao Minjie, and Zhou Jiahui took turns monitoring her. Almost all of them have been in Ms. Li's room to loudly abuse and humiliate her, and they slandered her in front of others to instigate others to hate and estrange themselves from her.

Because Ms. Li was handcuffed and wasn't able to take a shower for such a long time, her body emitted a bad odour. The criminals and guards couldn't bear the smell and washed Ms. Li's body by force. They found that there were two wounds on her buttocks that were caused by abrasion. They took her to the bed in the classroom, applied medicine and injection(s) to her by force, and ordered her to go to the dining room for food. Ms. Li couldn't stand up, so the guards ordered others to hold her up. Because she didn't co-operate, the guards told the criminals to drag her away on the ground. Guard Li Yongbo said she was pretending to be unable to walk, and harshly kicked her in the back and body over ten times. Due to this brutal beating, Ms. Li was often incontinent. She was frequently abused by the guards and the criminals. The guards later had to take her to Jiamusi City Centre Hospital for a physical exam. The results of the examination was that she had contracted hepatitis B. The guards were afraid of being infected and thus finally told Ms. Li's family to take her home.

Ms. Zhu Guoying Was Persecuted Until She Suffered a Mental Breakdown

Ms. Zhu Guoying, from Hongxinglong Farm Bureau, didn't co-operate with the brainwashing in the forced labour camp, and was handcuffed by the warden, Liu Yadong, for over two weeks, causing her to have a heart attack. One night while sleeping, Ms. Zhu was suddenly awakened from a dream and started shouting loudly. The next day, people found that she was not to able to recognise anyone. She shouted loudly and kept running around-- showing the symptoms of a mental collapse. The guards specifically assigned several criminals to watch her and prevent her from moving or running around. At night, the guards tied her to a wood-board bed. To prevent her from shouting, they stuffed socks into her mouth and beat her face and mouth. Thus, there were often many wounds on her lips, and her face was often swollen. To prevent her from moving on the bed, the guards ordered others to sit on her. Other practitioners used various means to inform Ms. Zhu's family about the persecution she was suffering. In the end, her family rescued her from the labour camp.

The Persecution of Ms. Wu Dongsheng, Ms. Wang Jinhua, and Ms. Li Xianglian

At that time, practitioners Ms. Wang Jinhua, Ms. Li Xianglian, and Ms. Wu Dongsheng didn't co-operate with the brainwashing, and they were handcuffed in the same room and abused by guards every day. Guard Sun Hui tried to force Ms. Wu to tread on the photo of Teacher Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Gong, but she refused. Then guard Sun Hui used force to put the photo under her buttocks inside her pants and forced her to sit like that until eight or nine o'clock in the evening. Because all the three practitioners didn't cooperate with the persecution, one week later they were handcuffed in a more cruel way. Slogans that slandered Falun Gong were posted on the wall of the room in which they were detained.
