Falun Gong practitioner Liu Bo graduated from the Zhengzhou Information Technology College of the People's Liberation Army General Staff Headquarters, where he remained employed with the army. He received awards for technology advancement, and was officially recognised as an "advanced worker". Later, he was hired by the local Guizhou Province Construction Bank as a computer engineer.

Liu Bo had liver disease for over twenty years, but completely recovered after becoming a Falun Gong practitioner.

After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started openly persecuting Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, the Guizhou Province Construction Bank collaborated with the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) to persecute Mr. Liu. Under the guise of a business trip, they deceived him into entering a vehicle that took him to the Zhongba Brainwashing Centre, where he was persecuted for six months. He was released from the brainwashing centre in the spring of 2002, but because he hadn't renounced Falun Gong, he wasn't given back his original job.

In the autumn of 2002, Guizhou Province Construction Bank officials co-operated again with the Guizhou 610 Office, and Liu Bo was arrested and taken to the Beijing Road Police Station. There he was beaten by several officers, who also confiscated his Falun Gong books, mobile phone, and identification card. At the police station, his legs were shackled, then spread wide onto a metal door for over ten hours. He was taken to the local detention centre the next morning, where he was beaten, terrorised, and forced to sleep on the floor next to a toilet, making it impossible to stretch his legs without dipping his feet into the toilet bowl.

Mr. Liu was persecuted for three years in the Zhongba Forced Labour Camp. Inside the camp, guards and inmates beat him severely every day; they hit him with a bench, forced him to stand for three to four days without sleep, showered him with cold water, and released dogs to bite him at night. When he was initially arrested, his family wasn't notified.

Originally, Liu became healthy after practising Falun Gong, but after suffering two to three months of brutal torture, his physical condition deteriorated so much that he looked like a dying man. Medical office personnel in the forced labour camp said that Mr. Liu had cirrhosis of the liver and that he should be released on bail for medical care. However, 610 Office officials and Construction Bank personnel didn't want him released, so they confined him in the Guizhou Province Public Security Hospital to continue their persecution until September 2005.

During the time of his torture in the forced labour camp, the Construction Bank withheld Mr. Liu's salary, saying that the bank would not arrange for him to keep his job and his salary. In June 2006, Liu was forced to terminate his employment contract.

Because of the long duration and severity of the persecution, his mental and physical condition had seriously deteriorated, and Liu Bo passed away on April 14th, 2010.
