The persecution of Falun Gong in China has lasted for over 11 years now. Russian Falun Dafa practitioners organised a series of activities in different cities around the country to let Russian people know more about the persecution, expose Chinese Communist Party's human rights atrocities, and call for help to end the persecution.

Falun Dafa practitioners from Siberia gathered in the city of Alshan in Buryatiya for experience sharing and activities to raise awareness. Some local residents saw the beauty of Falun Dafa and learned about human rights violations in China and the atrocities committed by the CCP. Some asked for more information and wanted to learn the exercises.

A few days later, on July 20, practitioners travelled to Irkutsk and set up display boards in the center of the city to expose the Chinese Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong over the past 11 years.

On July 23, practitioners went to Abakan in Khakassia and staged a peaceful protest. The banners and display boards told the story of the beauty of Falun Dafa and the persecution. Many people learned the truth and signed their names to support the effort.

Protest in front of Chinese Embassy in Moscow

On July 20, 2010, Falun Dafa practitioners went to appeal in front of the Chinese Embassy in Moscow. Though the Russian government refused to issue a permit to protest, the practitioners carried out an "individual protest". Russian law allows an individual to protest without a permit, so one practitioner stood in front of the Chinese Embassy and unfurled a banner. Others dispersed nearby to talk to people coming in and out of the Embassy. The passersby and people coming to the Embassy could see the protest clearly. Many people talked to the other practitioners nearby and learned the truth.

Exposing the persecution in St. Petersburg

On the afternoon of July 20, 2010, Falun Dafa practitioners in St. Petersburg clarified the truth to local people in the downtown area. Even though it was a hot sunny day, the practitioners stood firm under the sun to unfurl their banners and display boards. Others demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises and passed out fliers. Many people stopped to ask for more information about Falun Gong and condemned the CCP's persecution. Some people wanted to learn the exercises and buy Falun Gong books.

Practitioners taking part felt that the environment had changed after years of persistent efforts to raise awareness. Instead of indifference and swearing, more people are paying attention to Falun Gong and condemning the persecution. More people want to learn the exercises. Even the policemen and local officials are becoming more polite.
