My name is Hu Keling and I am 46 years old. I was a teacher at the Laixi Experience Middle School in Qingdao City, Shandong Province. Because I practised Falun Gong, after being arrested in 2002, I was detained in the Mental Health Centre of the Laixi Second Hospital. I was injected with harmful drugs and almost became psychotic. My knuckles on both hands are still enlarged and deformed today.

In 2002 I was forced to become homeless to avoid the constant persecution. On September 23rd I went to the Jinan Women's Prison with Meng Peihua, a Falun Gong practitioner from Nanfeng Town, Laixi City, to visit her twenty-two year-old daughter who had been sentenced to five years of imprisonment for practising Falun Gong. We were detained at the Jinan Train Station after police questioned us and found out we were practitioners.

The following afternoon, Laixi Police collected us and took us to the Qingdaolu Police Station. Ma Xuejun, office manager of the Laixi Experience Middle School, along with Shao Jun, head of Political Security Office of the Laixi Police Bureau participated. Meng Peihua was sent home by the Hetoudian Police Station in Laixi City on the second day. QingdaoLu Police Station, the school and Laixi 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) tried to send me to the Wangchun Forced Labour Camp in Zibo City. Zhao Xinrong from the QingdaoLu Police Station, Ding Huijun, deputy director of the Laixi 610 Office, Ma Xuejun, and a driver from the School were involved. The labour camp refused to take me because of my poor health, so they tried to send me to the Wangchun Brainwashing Centre. But they refused to accept me too. So they sent me to the Laixi Second Hospital Mental Health Centre. Ma Xuejun and Ding Huijun carried me to the fourth floor and Ma Xueju faked my signature on the registration papers.

Zuo Wenhua is the director of the mental health centre. Because I refused to co-operate they tied me to a bed and injected me with unknown drugs. A doctor named Zhang Wenhua was in charge of me.

Force to Take Medication and Injections of Unknown Drugs

Every day my blood pressure was measured and I was forced to take medication. When I refused, nurse Xu Ruiqiang tied me to the bed and force-fed me while holding my nose. The liquid medication was all over my face and hair.

Every few days they injected me with unknown drugs. When I refused to co-operate with them, nurse Wang Bo and four or five other men knocked and pushed me brutally to the floor. They took off my trousers and gave me injections in my buttocks, Wang Bo also tied my arms with a long cloth so I couldn't move.

I started a hunger strike in protest, and I was force-fed. The persecutors tied my hands and feet to the bed and held my body down using a strip of cloth across my chest. They inserted a tube down my nose into my stomach. To further torture me, nurses Zhao Zhong and Hu Xueyan intentionally moved the tube around in my stomach. It was very painful, and I felt very nauseous and wanted to throw up. After finishing they left the tube in so I couldn't swallow any saliva. If I tried to pull the tube out myself, they brutally inserted a thicker tube. Zhao Zhong said ferociously, "There is always a way to make you suffer."

I don't know what drugs they injected me with. After a month my period stopped and I felt extremely uncomfortable. My vision became blurred and I was constantly anxious for no reason.

Symptoms of Psychosis After Persecution

After nearly three months of hospitalisation, my sisters were allowed to visit me. They cried. I was very intelligent and witty before, but now I could not even stand or hold a conversation. My arms and hands constantly trembled. My sister thought I was cold, but it was caused by damage from the drugs.

One sister and her husband subsequently often visited the 610 Office to ask for my release. On January 29th, 2003, with my relatives' help, I finally left the "Mental Health Centre," which I entered healthy, but left nearly psychotic from the drugs. It is shameful that they forced my relatives to pay for the torture I received in the hospital. By the time I was released, my limbs were stiff, my vision was blurred, and I felt numb and emotionless. My face was white and thin, my eyes lifeless, my whole body trembled, and I had had no period for four months. After six months my feet were still so swollen that I couldn't wear shoes. The knuckles on all my fingers are still enlarged and deformed.
