Ireland: Chinese Embassy Refuse to Renew my Passport for the Third Time

I went to the Chinese Embassy this morning to renew my passport which expired on 27th February 2001. Before today, I tried twice to get my passport renewed but both times I was refused by the Chinese Embassy in Dublin.

I walked into the Visa application reception area of the Chinese embassy, and a staff member came up and asked me what I was doing there. I told him I wanted to get my passport renewed. I gave him my passport and he asked me when it expired. He said to himself while browsing the pages of my passport, “Oh, it’s full”. I told him that I applied for adding more pages when the blank pages ran out, but the application was refused. He then asked me who dealt with my passport renewal application last time; I told him it was the secretary Mr Wang. He then said if Mr Wang refused, there is nothing he can do.

I started to tell him it was wrong to deprive my rights of holding a valid passport, which is against the Chinese Constitution and the UN Human Rights Covenants. But he just kept saying if Mr Wang refused then he couldn’t do anything about it. I said it was wrong Mr Wang told me to renounce Falun Gong before I could get my passport renewed. I will never do such a thing. Then he told me to go home to think about it and came back again whenever I understood (he meant to agree with their condition of getting my passport renewed).

In the meantime, he got a phone call. After the phone call, he came out and told me that there is no way that he will renew my passport. “I just won’t do it for you, I just won’t do it for you”, he shouted at me. When I asked why, he merely shouted, “No reason, no need explain this to you”, he concluded his speech. I said, “Fine, thanks,” and left this very disappointing place.

This is my third time of passport renewal, and again I was refused.
