Ms. Li Fengxiu and Mr. Wan Guohua from Nancheng County, Jiangxi Province, were arrested on the evening of January 9th, 2010. They are now in custody at the Linchuan Police Department.
Ms. Li, a 47-year-old housewife, lives in Jianchang Town, Nancheng County. Mr. Wan, 31, owns a shoe repair shop in Jianchang Town. They owe their improved physical and mental well being to the practice of Falun Gong.

To help more people to learn the facts about Falun Gong, the two went together to Dongguan Town in the Linchuan District to distribute Falun Gong materials on the evening of January 9th, 2010. Dongguan Police Station patrol officers arrested and detained them at the Shangdundu Detention Centre in Fuzhou City. The Linchuan Police Department officials transferred their case to the Procuratorate, but prosecutors rejected the case and returned it to the police department. The police department officials refuse to release them.

Ms. Li's husband, Tan Jinsheng, works at hard physical labour all year out of town. He long suffered from stomach problems and was recently been diagnosed with advanced stage gastric cancer. He had an operation and two-thirds of his stomach was removed. The doctor advised him that he could live at most for one year and may only live for three more months if his condition was to worsen. With their mother in jail, the children have resigned from their jobs to take care of their father during his remaining time.

Mr. Wan's mother cries all day long. Her only income is a meagre unemployment stipend and the income from her son's shoe repair shop. Now she must pay the rent for both her residence and the shop. Her son's arrest and the financial burden have caused her fatigue and extreme anxiety which often leads to dizziness and fainting.
