Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Liu Ying and Others Being Persecuted in Shanxi Women's Forced Labour Camp

Shanxi Women's Forced Labour Camp detains many Falun Gong practitioners. The guards torture them and force them to do labour. The ventilation in the workshops is poor. The glue they use is poisonous. The team leader wears an anti-poison respirator while Falun Gong practitioners wear ordinary white masks. Falun Gong practitioners are deprived of sleep over a long period of time. They only sleep for five and a half hours a day. They are forced to sit on small stools and are not allowed to talk to each other. They are restricted on the times to go to the toilet. They are forced to listen to recordings that slander Falun Gong; the recordings are played very loudly. Falun Gong practitioners are tortured physically and mentally. They are given non-nutritious food and the food is often not enough. They are not allowed to buy any food.

The five Falun Gong practitioners detained in the "strictly controlled" team of the Third Division in Shanxi Women's Forced Labour Camp are Lin Shumin from Beijing, whose term is finishing on April 24th, 2010; Liu Ying from Beijing, whose term is finishing on May 15th, 2010; Sun Xiufang from Beijing, whose term is due on May 28th, 2010; Peng Jufeng from Shanxi, whose term is due on May 30th, 2010; and Shi Guiying from Shanxi, whose term is due in August 2010.

At the end of 2009, the above five practitioners went on a strike to protest the persecution. The political instructor, Liu Zhongmei, reckoned that Liu Ying was the initiator and wanted to persecute her but couldn't find any excuse. At the beginning of 2010, Liu Ying enlightened that she should walk her path righteously so she refused to co-operate with the demands of the guards. She was the first one who refused to report and other practitioners followed her. They refused to wear badges. Liu Zhongmei then made Liu Ying sit on a small stool outside the team leader's office all day long. She was not allowed to return to her team except while having meals and to sleep. Drug addict inmates madly swore at other practitioners. Recordings that slandered Falun Gong were played all day long at maximum volume. The sound was deafening. Practitioners protested strongly but in vain, so they tried to get away. Inmates who monitored them severely beat them. Some of the practitioners had bruises all over their bodies. Some developed high blood pressure and an irregular heartbeat. One elderly practitioner fainted on her bed. She was dragged away and the bed was taken away.

Then practitioners were put in the "strictly controlled" team. They were not allowed to use the toilet; they had to use a washbasin. Inmates who monitored them found out and threw away the washbasin so that they would have nothing. The team leader didn't prevent the inmates from doing so; instead, she supported inmates swearing at and beating practitioners. The political instructor claimed that she would extend the sentences of Falun Gong practitioners in the strictly controlled team, especially those of Liu Ying and Lin Shuming, who protested the playing of slanderous recordings.

Falun Gong practitioners in Shanxi Women's Forced Labour Camp are not safe and we hereby appeal to practitioners both in China and overseas to rescue them.
