Mr. Chen Ming used to be a famous businessman and had a nice family. After he began to practise Falun Gong, he became less attached to money and property and was glad to help people. Every year around New Year's Day he delivered food to the needy, which was reported on by the city TV station and newspapers. In the past ten years of the persecution of Falun Gong, he was arrested by the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) five times. The overall length of his detention has been about seven and a half years. He is still forced to stay away from home.

Because he went to Beijing to appeal in January 2000, Mr. Chen was arrested, had 5,000 Yuan1 extorted from him, was put in a forced labour camp for a year, and had his home ransacked. In October 2001, he was arrested again and put in a forced labour camp for two years for telling people facts about Falun Gong and distributing materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. Officer Zhou Yuan was one of the policemen who falsely accused and arrested him.

Not long after his release in October 2003, the county government and the police station arrested him again, claiming that it was because he had not transformed [forcibly renounce Falun Gong], and took him to the Suining City Judicial Brainwashing Centre. He later escaped from the centre, but was forced to stay away from home. Soon after, he was arrested by Officer Wen Youshuang when he told people facts about Falun Gong at Wuolong Temple in Guangxing City. He was then put in the detention centre and the forced labour camp and persecuted for three years.

In July 2005, police officers Yang Jing, Zhang Xiaogang, and Jiang Jinsong of the Xinhua Forced Labour Camp in Mianyang City, Sichuan Province, forced Mr. Chen and other practitioners to sit, stand, and squat in military stance, and stay and exercise in the sun for extended times. They were not allowed to wash up, change clothes, or take a shower, and were deprived of drinking water. They were attacked by other inmates who were incited to do so.

On June 9th, 2008, Mr. Chen was again arrested by officers from the local police station and taken to the detention centre when he was distributing Falun Gong leaflets. Later, he was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour.

Currently Mr. Chen is forced to stay away from home in order to avoid persecution.
