On September 25th, 2009, Ms. Liu Ping, a 70 year-old female practitioner, was arrested at her home in Datong, Lingqiu County, Shanxi Province, by police officers from the county's Public Security Bureau.

Police burst into her house and ransacked it while she was alone. Her neighbours heard her yelling, "Falun Gong is good." She was detained in the police station that night.

Ms. Liu Ping is a retired worker from Red Flag Plaza. She started practising Falun Gong in 1998. Prior to beginning the practice she suffered from many illnesses and had difficulty walking, but subsequently her health dramatically improved, and her pains gradually disappeared. All of her neighbours have witnessed these miraculous changes.

Since the persecution of Falun Gong began, Liu Ping has persisted in her belief and followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," even though she has been repeatedly persecuted.

Liu Ping went to Beijing in October 2000 to appeal for Falun Gong, and was arrested and sentenced to a forced labour camp for three years.

When she went to visit a fellow practitioner on November 5th, 2005, they were both arrested and detained in a local police station. During her detention Liu Ping persisted in doing the daily exercises, and told people there the truth about Falun Gong. In an attempt to force her to give up her belief, police officers, including Ma Jiguo, tortured her in a variety of cruel ways. Liu Ping was then sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour. Li Liming, head of the police, threw Liu Ping into the trunk of a police car, along with some luggage, and drove her to the forced labour camp. She had to suffer this form of cruel behaviour for many hours, as the labour camp was quite far away.

At the age of 70, Liu Ping was recently arrested again. According to her family, she was sentenced to a forced labour camp for two years. According to Chinese law, any person older than 65 cannot be sentenced in a forced labour camp. This act demonstrates how the Chinese Communist Party doesn't follow its own rule of law.
